... why they think they have a God given right to do this?

I am new to the dropping off at school thing and after one month I felt like a rant.

why oh why do you do it?

deepinlaundry, that was a joke. I am sorry for going on about your job love. It must be one of the most stressful jobs in the world. I do understand that having spent many a tense moment in a&e with dd whilst loads of drunks make life more difficult for everyone.

filz · 22/10/2008 16:24

will you forgive me?

I go straight to work after dropping mine off - and I leave in plenty of time to park at least 3 streets away from the school and walk the rest of the way. There is plenty of safe parking where I park, and I do not cause any obstruction to anyone else.

It is nightmare with all the 4x4s hurtling up onto the pavements and parking on the zigzags. I wouldn't dare let dd walk by herself, even just the length of the 3 streets bcause of the selfish lunatics who have to park right up against the school gates, across driveways etc.

I also park 3 or 4 streets away and walk to collect. It isn't difficult.

I don't understand why having to drive to school also means you have to park right outside the school. Why can't people park safely and walk the few extra yards. I know plenty of people who do this (they have to as our school is on a bend in a very narrow lane)and they also manage to cope with unloading a toddler plus baby too. As many others have said - it is about child safety.
Like your style by the way needmorecoffee. What about a squirty drinks bottle of neat ribena to squeeze over the windscreens of pavement-parkers - no lasting damage but very annoying for them.

It's not about sanctimonious. It's about struggling to get a wheelchair through a line of closely parked cars to access the school.

Agree that I would have very scant sympathy for someone with 2 healthy children.

I just hope that even one or two people will read this and be a bit more considerate, I wasn't really expecting them to post.

see the solution here is to put a sign on your car saying 'This is Peachys car'- coz every time anyone parks badly the next door brayer calls the police and tells them its mine

It was the other neighbours builders yesterday, apparently I own a large van and transport roof panels over his fence then?

Or she calls police and tells them my legall parked car is belonging t someone who doesn't live here (they operate a sort of unofficial residents aprking- ie they uderstand there is nowhere else for residents to park so dont move us on)

The irony is that I have never parked on a yellow line or zigzag in my life

iliketosleep · 22/10/2008 21:44

Ok ill hold my hands up, I usually drive with music up loud, depends what im listening to at the time though.

I have driven and spoke on my mobile phone once a couple of weeks ago when i rang my mum to see if there was an accident in town as i was stuck in a major traffic jam on the way to pick up dc from school. I was inching forward at -10mph but was driving all the same

I have only ever parked on zig zig lines after the times your not allowed to!!

why does she have it in for you peachy?

nappyaddict · 23/10/2008 12:19

MRLSG - If you can't even get the wheels of your buggy through though then you can't even attempt to squeeze past

flibberty - people parked in front of your drive so you couldn't get out i'd have called the police or council - not sure which would deal with this.

It depends what is considered loud music too. do you mean so loud you can hear it even if the windows are closed? cos even with the music fairly quiet you can always hear it in the summer with the windows down.

i don't understand people who talk on the phone whilst driving either. just get a handsfree set!! they are only about £5 - is it really worth getting in trouble with the police over?

cupchar · 23/10/2008 12:27

Have never parked illegally to get to school & I have five kids. I see others driving & parking so stupidly. imho there is no excuse.
