I'm probably being unreasonable, live and let live after all. A dad dropping off his child at dd1's reception class today - large chap, shaved head, wearing cut off tracksuit bottoms with such clear and distinct holes in them that you could see his bottom (at the back, I averted my eyes at the front, too scary) through them, and a similarly stained, holey t-shirt. When i say large chap i mean really large chap. Repeatedly bumped me in the back with his stomach when i was helping DD1 with her coat trying to push by (I am 7 months pregnant, so perhaps taking up more room than I think?) is it just me or that just kind of...well...gross (for lack of a better word!)?
thinking back to all the threads on MN about what to wear for pick up/drop off...

He was probably trying to get a bit of friction going.

If he does it again just turn round, look at his stomach and say 'you as well? when are you due?'

VinegarTits · 03/10/2008 10:49

So he was showing his knob as well as his arse then? and you could see the whole of his arse could you? you said 'When i say large chap i mean really large chap' to mean that sounds like obesety. Your over reacting, calm down woman.

daftpunk · 03/10/2008 10:49

why does he have to be depressed? maybe he's just lazy.

harleyd · 03/10/2008 10:49

maybe he likes the breezy airy feeling

or maybe he doesnt realise how exposed he is..you should really point it out to him at hometime

Ripeberry · 03/10/2008 10:51

Maybe he's too hot and needs extra ventilation? I usually say to my brother "when's it due?" as he is quite skinny on his arms and legs but has a VERY unhealthy beer gut and it really looks like he is pregnant.

shameful

VinegarTits · 03/10/2008 10:52

Maybe he is lazy.

'I'm probably being unreasonable, live and let live after all.'

You said it Babblington.

babblington · 03/10/2008 10:53

I'm not uncalm at all - perhaps a little surprised! If a woman (large or not!) dropped off their child wearing a g-string and crop top and little else and I had posted about it, would i be called a snob for raising an eyebrow? Why the double standards? What does his weight have to do with it anyway - I'm talking about a grown man in a room full of children with a large portion of his bottom showing - acceptable for a bloke/woman? Is this humiliating for his child? It was humiliating for me - I don't want to have to see this mans arse!

Thank you hedge witch - I was wondering if Vingertits had bothered to read the original post before jumping onto her high horse.

He might not have known about the hole? I saw a guy at a kids festival with a hole in the arse of his trousers and he had no undercrackers on so it was very revealing.

I thought it was a bit inappropriate but someone whispered in his ears about it and he was horrified and tied a jumper around his waist.

In answer to your title question though I guess yanbu ot find it distasteful if those are your own standards.

belgo · 03/10/2008 10:55

I would find it distasteful to see a large portion of a man's bottom. Yes that's gross. And I would be annoyed at being bumped into a few times when pregnant. Yes that's gross.

VinegarTits · 03/10/2008 10:56

'If a woman (large or not!) dropped off their child wearing a g-string and crop top and little else and I had posted about it, would i be called a snob for raising an eyebrow?' - imo yes

Tell him to put his bum away, or dont look at it.

Or do you think he was doing it on purpose?

Saturn74 · 03/10/2008 11:00

"What does his weight have to do with it anyway?".

Maybe people assumed you thought it was relevant as you mentioned the word 'large' three times in the OP.

nailpolish · 03/10/2008 11:06

large could mean tall

i say large when i mean tall

fwiw, if i saw a man with his hairy arse hanging out of his breeks id wrinkle my nose too

totally unecessary

MamaG · 03/10/2008 11:07

YANBU

I'd have found it gross too

Chequers · 03/10/2008 11:09

MamaG I saw your other thread, now bugger off

MamaG · 03/10/2008 11:12
CountessDracula · 03/10/2008 11:13

maybe you should go private

Jux · 03/10/2008 11:29

I would be more interested in the child - jumping to conclusions about how he/she was cared for if the dad was wandering around dressed like that.

Surfermum · 03/10/2008 11:41

What has the shaved head got to do with it?

MamaG · 03/10/2008 11:53

I like men with shaved heads, as a rule

Tortington · 03/10/2008 11:57

OH COME ON! withthe hippyness jeeez

shaved head = rough as bunt toast

Fat , really really = lazy doesnt' care about self or image

maybe he was decorating the bathroom becuase his wife will tear him a new nutsack if he doesn't get it done

daftpunk · 03/10/2008 11:59

it depends mamag...if they've got a nice small head it can look good..if they've got a great big fat head they just look like a watermelon

MamaG · 03/10/2008 12:00

true daft. If men start to recede, i think they look much better with v short hair

I meant that by shaved head, rather than baldy bald!
