imo if you dont get on with a certain brand of nappy dont use them again.different nappies suit different shape children and varied wetness.

try cloth

Fimbo · 03/10/2008 10:07

I only tried pull-ups on my ds once - they leaked and this was during the day. Can't say it crossed my mind to take the whole pack back as I had only used once. From memory I taped the pack up and handed them in to a charity shop.

piratecat · 03/10/2008 11:46

pullups can be used for night time, they are like nappies but they 'pull up' instead!!

My dd is unfortunately still not dry at night and wears size 6, with no leaks, APART from when I tried the tesco ones, which seemed to have those leg holes. The pull up training pants, are no good, as they are just supposed to let the dc know when they are wet, so therefore they arenot supposed to be as absorbent as a standard nappy or 'pull up' nappy.

Maybe you have got a faulty batch, not unheard of.

I was buying the drynites, when they used to do bogof.

piratecat · 03/10/2008 11:47

oh btw, do you have a somerfield, their's are really good. my dd is too big for their bigger ones now.

milfAKAmonkeymonkeymoomoo · 03/10/2008 11:48

I used pull ups at night with my DD when she was two with no problems, used Boots own brand and found them to be fine.

TrinityRhino · 05/10/2008 15:57

pull ups were first designed to ne for a potty training child so they could pull down their 'nappy' and use the toilet but thwey would catch accidents

since then I think their may be others that are proper nappies now but that is why pull ups do not semm to be the thing that you use at night

btw I have a 3 year old in pull ups at night and they are fine but if they didn;t last all night then I would just change nappies

and certainly not expect a refund

crazy!

ImnotMamaGbutsheLovesMe · 05/10/2008 15:59

Pull ups are not designed for night time use as they are not nappies. They are meant to be used as a pant for potty training so the child gets the feeling of being wet without a complete soaking.

Tutter · 05/10/2008 16:00

pull ups are shit imo

nappies when thjey need nappies

pants when they don't

that's what i say

wheresthehamster · 05/10/2008 16:04

Agree with tutter.

A marketing ploy if ever there was one

CarGirl · 05/10/2008 16:05

There are 2 different kind of pull-ups

  1. Proper nappies that pull up and are as good and normal disposables
  1. Pull-up training pants that are disposble training pants designed to contain a small accident.
Lovesdogsandcats · 05/10/2008 17:43

If they were Tesco own make you can take anything back, be it half used or completely used and all you have is an empty wrapper. They have a sign up saying that if you are unhappy with ANY Tesco product they will refund.

DANCESwithLordPottingtonSmythe · 05/10/2008 17:49

No opinion but 'teen spirit' what a delightful turn of phrase 'covered in piss'

pagi · 07/10/2008 22:41

I know the feeling! My son has had Tesco nappies since he was 1 with no problems until a few weeks ago when they started leaking left, right and centre. I did think about mentioning it to Tesco but I'm not entirely convinced that my little sunshine isn't playing with his bits overnight!! I've had to buy another 5 pairs of pyjamas as I'm washing a pair a day.

I don't really see how I can persuade a 2.4 year old to leave his willy alone. He loves it enough to sing it a night night song.

FAQ · 07/10/2008 22:44

all my DS's have worn pull-ups at night - DS1 and 2 wore Tesco own. Never once woke up covered in pee........although DS3 did wee on the carpet this evening after he discovered that the Huggies pull-ups could be easily removed (I don't usually buy huggies - but I couldn't be arsed to walk all the way into town to boots, and Morrisons don't do a size 6 pull-up - so had to go for Huggies)

DraculaNeedsArteries · 07/10/2008 22:48

Thats true Loves dogs and cats...although personally I think I would be embarressed to have used half a packet before returning them..3-4 maybe but not half a packet. Doesn't mean I am right to be embaressed though.

As it happens my DD3 leaks in Tesco easy-up nappies during the day (or at least she did before she was potty trained). They seem too big on her (although they are the same size guide as the nappies which are fine). As it happens I have an almost full packet...I am tempted to take them back as Lovesmydogs suggests. I may wrin ghte number on teh back f the pack (you know the "if you aren;t completely satisified...." one..see if I can get a voucher without doing it in person.

Agree with others though I wouldn't chose to use teh easy-fit style pullups at night...they don't seem as absorbant to me - even though they are meant to be.

FAQ · 07/10/2008 22:53

ooo Dracula - what size are that pack you're got almost unused??

That has got to be a contender for QOTW

TheNinkynork · 07/10/2008 22:57

Thank God for this thread! DS has recently added wetting the cot / our bed to his repertoire of nighttime shenanigans. My mission tomorrow is to buy smaller nappies.

And LOL at pagi's DS's willy lullaby

Twinklemegan · 07/10/2008 22:58

Oh sh*t - DS is in a Tesco's pull up tonight . I didn't realise they didn't work like normal nappies, since it says in big print on the pack that they do and I didn't get chance to read the small print on the back

I've always hated the idea of pull ups but DS is most definitely not ready to lose the nappies but putting conventional ones on him is becoming so difficult. He won't lie down, and doing them standing up is a real PITA. Tonight there was no chance - none at all.

Wet bed in the morning then. Oh joy!

FAQ · 07/10/2008 23:02

Twinklemegan - I used Tesco pull-ups at night for about 4yrs (DS1, who was still in them when DS2 was into them) and they never leaked once.

Lazycow · 07/10/2008 23:02

Well ds soaks through nappies ) completely and most pull ups. ( I tried about 6=7 different brandsin various sizes

I had a period of using a nappy with a bigger pull up over the top which worked most of the time.

I ended up with Huggies dry nites which are pull ups ( for 4-7 year olds though ds was 3.3 when he started wearing them and is by no means big for his age) but designed for night wear.

He has never leaked in these unless he has been fiddling and has weed over the top of them which he does rarely. They are really expensive though. Sigh! - I really must tackle the night training.

chipmonkey · 07/10/2008 23:03

mamadive, if your ds is inclined to be allergic Bambo Nature do a pull-up which should work on sensitive types. Don't know how effective they are though. We used cloth for ds2 but ds3, surprisingly is dry at night at 3. I was very as neither of his older brothers was!

Twinklemegan · 07/10/2008 23:06

Thanks FAQ - fingers crossed then.

DraculaNeedsArteries · 07/10/2008 23:07

FAQ - I think they are a size 5.

TBH though (and pre-empting where you are going)

I shall probably use them up. We are confident DD is dry at night (although she is only 28m)...we plan to go through the pack of nappies we have, as we have them we might as well...we will then probably go through the pull ups..as we have them we might as well...and then if we still have no more night wees go completely nappyless [brave].

So we will use them up in a situation where we don't expect them to be wee'd in but where we want some absorbancy IYSWIM.

Sorry.
