I think it is sad to everything together all the time yes
but with the gym going together probably spurs them on

Peachy · 01/10/2008 10:32

I'm dull but I'm happy

charitygirl · 01/10/2008 10:33

Agreed - perticularly when they can't see their (mutual, but still on one side more than the other IYKWIM) friends on their own.

I have one friend who seems to have completely fogotten the concept of 'girls' dinner' or 'girls' night in'.

pooka · 01/10/2008 10:34

Not sure. Would you think me and dh sad for going running (outside) together. We used to a lot before children when we were training for Gt Nth Run.

I've never been particularly motivated when running on my own and we both trained better when egged on by the other person.

Wouldn't go to the gym with dh though (I mean wouldn't set out to be on same equipment, though might just happen accidentally).

I thought you were going to talk about people who pop to the shops as a couple, or guide each other around marks and spencers.

CatIsSleepy · 01/10/2008 10:34

maybe they are extremely competitive

NotCod · 01/10/2008 10:35

MY BIL and SIL do everything together, they work together, live together, go out everywhere together... she never comes out with me without him..

Hassled · 01/10/2008 10:36

Maybe the time spent running side by side is their idea of quality time together? They probably don't speak to each other the rest of teh week.

NotCod · 01/10/2008 10:36

oh fgs

even do shopping together ffs

MrsMattie · 01/10/2008 10:41

I can't believe I am agreeing with Cod so wholeheartedly on multiple topics these past few days...

Couply couples freak me out a bit. I know a couple who do everything bar work together. They cook meals together (always together - 'darling, could you pass the chopping board?' 'Certainly, darling' etc....every night). They go to the gym and swimming together. They take the kids out together always - never a case of 'dad taking kids to park while mum goes shopping' - no, no, no. Always hand in hand skipping merrily down the aisles of Tesco and then taking turns to push the kids on the swings at the playground. Bless. They also socialise together always. They only have other couple friends.

God, they are boring fuckers.

BlingLovin · 01/10/2008 10:41

haha - I AVOID shopping with DP like the plague. Always leads to unnecessary tension and irritation. Easier to leave him at home or send him off to do some meaningless very important task while I get on with everything else.

It helps us stay loved up!

NotCod · 01/10/2008 10:42

mrs mattie! i SALUT|E YOU!

YABU on the gym issues, lots of people (not just couples) have training partners and for some it is the only way to motivate them. Being on the same machines at the same time means they can spur each other on. (My idea of hell admittedly!)

YANBU on doing everything together. I think everyone should have their own identity [boark] and do their own things.

DH and I both have at least a couple of hobbies that the other isn't involved in, gives us time alone or with our own friends, makes the time together more 'special' and gives us new things to talk about.

NotCod · 01/10/2008 10:44

yes dh uses a dad from school for taxis( he is a taxi driver obv!) and this bloke has a wife how keeps him very close to her( at gym even)
he said to h the other nigth" oh are you out again alone"

" oh yes " mumbeled dh " she does her hting i do mine"

i NOW hitnk that taxi man thinks we are close to divorce!

I think it's really sweet, they must lurve each soooo much! We just chose not to socialise with them

GentleOtter · 01/10/2008 10:49

Ach, some of us have no alternative being together a lot. Dh and I work the farm together and share looking after the children.
A crap income and the commitment to our animals prevents us travelling too far.

teenspirit · 01/10/2008 10:51

Dh and I would be divorced if we did everything together - the reason our relationship works is that we have our own lives but ultimately the security of one another and our time too.
It is unnatural and unhealthy to be joined at the hip and really rather sad!
