To sell the ridiculous and impractical highchair I bought? Preemptive guilt.

I was definitely BU to buy the damn thing in the first place and I will tolerate it no longer! I'd love to ceremoniously destroy it TBH, but that really would BU. So, I suppose I should sell it...

The thing is, I have preemptive guilt about landing some other foolish mother of a PFB with it. It really is a nightmarish article, obviously designed by someone who has never seen a baby eat.

The concept is good, the execution is fucking stupid. I dare to bet that it's got more filth traps than any other highchair ever created. Here's the poncey thing.

I knew BLW was going to be messy.

I knew I should just get an Antilop or a Tripp Trapp.

I wanted something I didn't mind having to look at, I ordered it online.

This is my PFB.

I was foolish and I repent.

So, am I being unreasonable to (potentially) subject another family to Highchair Hell?

hedgewitch if it's same as mine you just bung it in washing machine. mines says not supposed to. but after 3 years of doing it every month or so it's still holding up without any damage or colour loss.

i've also got one of these

www.totseat.com/

which is absolutely fantastic. and they whole thing is machine washable. use it relatives houses, holidays, restaurants.

tbh if i had this first i would have never bought high chair. for the first few months we would have survived with little rocking seat thing. the totseat is suitable from 8 months. and the list of compatible chairs is unbelievable.

dd at 12 months has no problem whatsoever reaching table.plus it acts as a bib if your out and forget to take one. comes in a waterproof pouch that you can bung in your bag till you get home

messageinabottle · 22/09/2008 22:43

wow that totseat looks great, I think I may even buy one! We have the antilop but DS wants to actually sit up at the table with us, not just next to us

See, we have that really impractical gorgeous art deco style dining set from ikea where the seats are curved so have never found a booster seat that fits, until now!

Megglevache · 23/09/2008 12:11

MorningPap.

Calm down, I didn't buy it .

If I had £240 to piss up the wall I would have bought one of those gold plated wipe warmers that douses the wipes in Cristal.

Not on a high chair.

missjennipenni · 23/09/2008 12:34

elmoandella - i have that exact high chair, i love the basket underneath!

ScottishMummy · 23/09/2008 12:35

i have this fresco bloom highchairgorgeous no cristal wipe warmer though

blithedance · 23/09/2008 12:46

Get it onto ebay.

I had a mummy moment when we briefly needed a second high chair, bought a Mamas & Papas Prima Papa from ebay. EVIL THING bulky, uncomfortable, uncleanable, looks horrific, plasticky.

I sold it for about £15 less than I paid (in a very carefully worded auction) and put it down to experience.

Unbelievably some people think this highchair is the best on the market!

We got a Tripp Trapp and never looked back.

Umlellala · 23/09/2008 12:52

Yup, ebay. I love the Tripp Trapp (and Antilop for slinging in car/going to in laws), and like you we have it in our living room. that it cost more than our (ikea) table and chairs . Justified it because it is a 'design classic'

Megglevache · 23/09/2008 12:53

ScottishMummy you are mad

Forget Cristal, I bet you wipe your babies bottom with Creme de la Mer non?

akhems · 23/09/2008 12:56

I had something similar to this for mine when they were little.. it was fab, just hook them on, and it folded really small so it was great for visiting too

DeJaVous · 23/09/2008 12:59

The baby set for the Tripp Trapp MIL gave me has just arrived! Hoooooooraaaahhh! DD will never have to eat in The Monster again Unfortunately she's making up a missed day at nursery today, otherwise I'd have given it an immediate road test!

THB I am still having preemptive guilt about lumbering some other fool with The Monster, but I'm going to try and sell it anyway! Will have to give it a good deep clean and replace the velcro first though

I did rather like this one, I spotted it at the bottom of a page elmoandella linked to last night. However, I have learnt my lesson (and how).

akhems - I've got one like that for visiting too! It is great, I do get sick of needing to wash the fabric so often though.

LOL that is the funniest ever promo video... and how much white?!

wontbepreggersagain · 23/09/2008 13:12

meggle- i have two frescos in pink for my twins

tbh i won't make the mistake again- BUT they are very striking on the one day a week they look clean and tidy (ie the day the cleaner comes )

DeJaVous · 23/09/2008 13:13

The video is a bit special isn't it

The Antilop is white too, it doesn't stain on seeing a strawberry at 10 paces though!

Blimey wontbepreggersagain, you actually went for it in the end I remember trying to persuade you not to (under another name) ROLF.

Are they very hard to clean?

OP posts:
giraffescantdancethetango · 23/09/2008 13:19

lmfao at advert

SoupDragon · 23/09/2008 13:20

they're dressed in white!

wontbepreggersagain · 23/09/2008 13:27

i think they would be easier to clean if i weren't a total slattern or if the girls magaged to hit their mouths every now and again ours came with spare inserts so i just take the nasty one off- put on the sparkling one and then the cleaning fairy comes and sorts it out

Megglevache · 23/09/2008 14:23

oh great , can't wait.

staranise · 23/09/2008 14:25

YANBU. We had a similar thing, was forced to do BLW with DD2 due to her refusal to eat purees, after two weeks I caved in and bought a cheap version of Stokke thing (called Dan I think, £40, plain, wooden, small, v easy to clean).

Other monstrosity is still in the attic gathering dust...

DeJaVous · 23/09/2008 14:49

staranise - why not join me in Ebaying the blasted thing?
