To sell the ridiculous and impractical highchair I bought? Preemptive guilt.

I was definitely BU to buy the damn thing in the first place and I will tolerate it no longer! I'd love to ceremoniously destroy it TBH, but that really would BU. So, I suppose I should sell it...

The thing is, I have preemptive guilt about landing some other foolish mother of a PFB with it. It really is a nightmarish article, obviously designed by someone who has never seen a baby eat.

The concept is good, the execution is fucking stupid. I dare to bet that it's got more filth traps than any other highchair ever created. Here's the poncey thing.

I knew BLW was going to be messy.

I knew I should just get an Antilop or a Tripp Trapp.

I wanted something I didn't mind having to look at, I ordered it online.

This is my PFB.

I was foolish and I repent.

So, am I being unreasonable to (potentially) subject another family to Highchair Hell?

Oh my that video is so funny!
I also have a Hideously Humungous Highchair (HHH)
It reclines
It slides up and down (a million positions)
It is enormous
It is purple

(If I weren't a lady, I could compare it to a cock, but I am, so I won't)

It also traps dirt and has mouldy bits.

I bought an antilop. I heart my antilop.

Gingerbear · 22/09/2008 21:16

me likey red and blue antilop.

presume red is so bolognese stains dont show up?

dunno about the blue though.

Megglevache · 22/09/2008 21:19

DJV

You designer hooare

I wish I'd bought an antilope thingie.

DeJaVous · 22/09/2008 21:19

The Tripp Trapp is more or less free so I'm going to give it a go. We've all got used to DD properly sitting round the table with us. I couldn't push an Antilop up to/over the table like I can with The Monster or a TT. The Antilop does a have a pretty huge footprint too.

Oh, the trip trap thing is indeed troll suspicion related.

Lots of x there. Why is MN sometimes soooo slow?

Was talking to messageinabottle about the troll thing...

i've got one of those chicco ones with a massive bag to throw all toys and shite in.

think it reclines but about 0.0005 degrees pointless, but i must admit i've used it. both dc have fallen asleep mid meal, and i've continued feeding after a 20 mins nap.

no other ridiculous features. you can bung the cover and straps in washing machine aswell. no stupid bits for food to stick in. quick wipe down and it's clean.

wasn't as faboulously cheap as a antilop. but has sustained nearly 3 years continued use without blemish.

elmoandella · 22/09/2008 21:32

have you seen mamas and papas rediculously priced beasts. at least one of them comes in black. perfect for getting yoghurt stains in.

and you can by extra covers for !!!!£50!!!! thats more expensive than my highchair

DeJaVous · 22/09/2008 21:34

A friend of mine has that chicco one, hers is always crusted in stuff but does seem reasonably practical. THB I really don't like it. Sorry.

Mind you our living area is open plan so I end up seeing the highchair day and night...

I'm with you, thanks Cali & DJV

I really must read more stories to DS

morningpaper · 22/09/2008 21:35

I like the way the woman wanders around with it, a little lost, as if to say "this would be lovely, but a child will really fuck with my decor"

LMAO

I would put it on Ebay, and put a line that says soomething like "I love the look of this but I have found it really hard to clean, so it needs to go to a family which are better as housework than me!"

Then you've done your disclaimer but some clueless mother pregnant with her PFB will still pay £££ for it.

elmoandella · 22/09/2008 21:35

i fold mine up and shove it in utility room stuffed to the gunnels full of shite.

DeJaVous · 22/09/2008 21:36

x

O M G. That's horrific. It looks like a Quinny Buzz on acid

Less than 50 quid? They have gone up in price a lot! My friend paid over 100 euro for hers!

MEGGLEVACHE: £240 ON A HIGHCHAIR????????????

THAT LOOKS LIKE A DENTAL INSTRUMENT????????

ARE YOU INSANE?

BouncingTurtle · 22/09/2008 21:38

My Not So PFB has an Antilop from Ikea, it is totally fab, dead easy to clean (especially when someone showed me a quick way to get the tray off).
Plus I can take it out in the garden and hose all the bits of broccoli off it before wiping it down

still see them for sale in both asda and tesco all time. cheapest sale i've seen on then was £35.i paid £40 if i rememeber correctly. full price everywhere argos/tesco/asda/woolies is £49.99

messageinabottle · 22/09/2008 21:42

i will never get the time back but I've just indulged the entire video

my god forget the cleanliness of the highchair does anyone else think the spindle between the legs, without the tray, is a little DANGEROUS????

DeJaVous · 22/09/2008 21:47

It's lethal without the tray and the seat is so massive that DD can pull her legs in and turn around almost completely. She's an average sized 10 month old

BouncingTurtle I love the wash-ability of the Antilop. I have to take a hose and a toothbrush to the monster twice a week to stop it turning into a rotting lump.

elmoandella - maybe we're talking about different chairs?

I got one of these for my first and never used anything else. Chucked it out last year - it had cost me £25 and lasted through three children over 7 years.

Can't stand high chairs.

They are toe-stubbers, pure and simple.

messageinabottle · 22/09/2008 21:59

but can the children sit at the table in that booster seat gabygirl?

sweetkitty · 22/09/2008 22:02

PFB I got the huge M&P padded thing with white (yes white) straps that didn't come off for washing. I binned it last year (had a rip in it as well).

DD3 will be getting an Antilop until she is old enough to go in DD2's vacated booster seat. Highchairs a complete waste of money, sit them at your table with a booster seat, save money and space.

elmoandella · 22/09/2008 22:02

nope

one of these
