but AIBU to think that if you live in a council flat you shouldnt be able to afford a brand new land rover with personalised number plate and full leather interiour

its just so frustrating when we struggle to pay our rent and have a crappy car and a man living in the council flats opposite us can afford brand spanking new car

so aibu????????????????

Oooh, can I get a job as a bin-woman? I wouldn't more than 40k a year!

My understanding also is that councils (and HAs)like to have people in the properties who work?

Janos · 23/09/2008 15:00

That actually makes no sense. I meant I wouldn't mind more than 40k a year.

TinkerBellesMum · 23/09/2008 15:21

I'm a Resident who has jobs out the goodness of my heart for the HA. HAs have to have Residents involved in running things, some are even run by Residents (TMOs). HA Residents may not know what was done by another Resident, but they certainly see the effects. Sorry to disappoint you but you aren't paying my wages!

DM, I had it once where my toilet filled to the top and it wasn't pleasant! I called them gone midnight, they opened up the ladies for me but someone was there by 2am to fix it. With private you would have problems doing that because they don't have staff already working who can just call in.

ahfeckit · 23/09/2008 15:22

oh my, £40k for being a binperson, that's it, I'm going to check for any vacancies as of...now!

magnolia74 · 23/09/2008 15:34

It's cheaper than renting on the open market. That makes it subsidised.

No it bloody doesn't it just means that private renting is so fucking expensive

Thats NOT the fault of those in social housing

Not only 30/40k but a friend whose boyfriend is a bin man says come xmas time they have cupboards full - literally stacked high- of sweets/booze/buscuits etc etc which lasts them all year, given by residents! They can hardly give it away, lucky things. Tins of Roses lasting all year - give me that perk And monetry tips too

UniversallyChallenged that's because the poor dears work so hard all year round and don't get a lot of money for it. [bless]

expatinscotland · 23/09/2008 18:30

oh, yes, binmen earning £40k, teachers earning £30k plus for doing basically FA part-time (all that holiday), nurses earing £30k or more.

what's this world coming to?

they should all be doing it out of the kindness of their hearts.

it's their fault for not becoming bankers and brain surgeons, after all.

they're good enough to pick up your rubbish, cut your hair, save your life, wipe your mother's arse when she's in nursing home and give you drugs to make your end peaceful or turn you in your bed so you don't suffer the agony of bed sores, but God forbid they be in any way rewarded for that.

jesus wept, what a lot of short-sighted, mean-spirited ignoramuses there are still left in the world! it's downright shameful.

daftpunk · 23/09/2008 19:54

expat....you really need to chill out...you seem to think you're the only person around here allowed to have an opinion? and not only that...that yours is the only opionion that matters....well it ain't.

you go straight for the jugular every time.

justaflyingvisit · 23/09/2008 19:58

expat, you do go straight to the jugular, and i applaud you for it.

expatinscotland · 23/09/2008 20:04

yeah, well, get used to it, daft.

this is how i've been IRL and on here for hte past 4 years. i don't namechange, i don't spraff and if people don't like that, big deal.

expatinscotland · 23/09/2008 20:05

and if you don't like hearing other peoples' opinions, DP, or see others expressing those as a personal affront at every turn, good luck hanging round this board, you're going to need it.

daftpunk · 23/09/2008 20:14

i'm not saying that..i love reading other people's opinions.... it's just you have one on just about everything?

TinkerBellesMum · 23/09/2008 20:16

Don't see what the problem is with what expat said.

expatinscotland · 23/09/2008 20:17

yeah, so what?

daftpunk · 23/09/2008 20:18

it's usually bollox..that's what.

expatinscotland · 23/09/2008 20:21

you're entitled to your opinion same as i am, DP.

but i don't get personal with anyone unless addressed first because the policy here is to try to avoid that as much as possible.

the feeling's mutual, FWIW, which isn't a whole lot, but again, the one policy here is not to get obscenely personal with anyone.

so it's good advice to re-read the mission statement or just give some posters a swerve.

diddums, DP.

i'd say likewise, but i'm not really in the mood.

end of discussion as far as i'm concerned because this is getting old, tbh, and i don't come here to deal with angry types.

and if you have a problem with anything anyone says on this board, you have the ability to report it to the mods and get it deleted.

that's why '!' is there.

expatinscotland · 23/09/2008 20:28

and stay out of my way.

i don't do threats, either.

Combustiblelemon · 23/09/2008 20:31

Where did expat say that?

GreenMonkies · 23/09/2008 20:31

We live in a council maisonette, does that mean DP should sell his Subaru Imprezza and buy something crappy instead?

We do both work, council tenants are not always on benefits or even tenants any more since the right to buy......

justaflyingvisit · 23/09/2008 20:32

eh up girls, its kicking off!!!! Im lucyellensmum expat by the way, so you know im a huge fan. Can't imagine why daft punk is being like this, you always seem to be a very sensible poster. Oh, ive missed this!
