I love soup, especailly in the winter.

and with a warm crusty roll...........

I want to eat it when eating out, but I like to break up my roll into pieces and drop it all into my soup and then eat it.

would I be stared at and frowned on??? In fact, is it a crime for the food police to even suggest doing such a thing????

((and please don;t suggest croutons......I have ishoos with croutons))

Soren, I thought that's the only way you should eat cawl! That's how I serve it to my friends as well. Goes down very well.

No you cannot. It is considered really bad manners to dunk in soup. Lady Fearnley who is the authority on such things, and has a Finishing school for young debutants is insistent in her teachings. Do Not Dunk.

It means you are a pleb as bad as they come. (And you know what list to sign up on! )

Your soup, your style! Don't worry what anyone else thinks, you've paid for it.

I'm rather particular about table manners, at least those that matter, that is imho, but I don't care if anyone looks down on me for dunking my bread in my soup or my biscuits in my cup of tea, it tastes good that's reason enough for me.

psychomum5 · 17/09/2008 22:01

but I did not go to finshing school, therefore I should be excused.....

I have house manners and company manners. Company manners come out when I am out with colleagues/ acquaintances/Christmas/ somewhere posh and house manners when it's just us and friends.

"If you do anything in a restaurant with enough panache you can get away with it."

panache is posh for marge, psycho.
