I can't understand why people call their children junior! As in John Junior when his dad's also called John. Why????

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 12/09/2008 23:35

No, and it's not Morphy Richards either. Actually Solo, I could offer you the chance of meeting him. He's fairly near you on a Thursday evening playing badminton. Oh boy, you really neeeeeeeed to see him play, you take your life in your hands just by being a spectator.

solo · 12/09/2008 23:39

Lol!!! sounds like a lot of erm...fun!
Tell us his name Margo...I have to go to bed in a mo...pleeeeaaaase!!!

ethanchristopher · 12/09/2008 23:39

junior - thats a really american thing to do isnt it

wel ive only ever heard of it as an american thing (part from the barbie that is "jordan"'s poor son)

i dont mind the kid being caled after the parent (although would be confusing with letters) but why stick junior on it?

Twins in my area are called Dolce & Gabbana !
You couldn`t make it up !

ChirpyGirl · 13/09/2008 00:06

I know 2 children called Stella and Charlie. Wasn't until their gradnfather pointed out that it sounds like a good night out in town that I clicked.

solidgoldbrass · 13/09/2008 00:09

Well me and DS dad did joke at one point about how we should have called him Glen (short for Glenfiddich) as it was after a lot of whisky that he was concieved.

1dilemma · 13/09/2008 00:17

Is Stella anything apart from the beer?

In France they used to have a list of approved names and you had to have one of them (I think) hence all the Marie-Claires and Marie-Laure etc etc

GrimmaTheNome · 13/09/2008 00:22

Glen Grant might crop up innocently I s'pose

showmeyourpuku · 13/09/2008 00:42

Someone here tried to call their child "4real", they were told they weren't allowed and kicked up a fuss, was on the news and eveything!

mrshall · 13/09/2008 06:48

The funniest I've ever heard is a little boy whose surname is Peacock and his parents called him Drew!

Say it all together...

When they realised their mistake, they still didn't change the name, poor kid...

Jennster · 13/09/2008 07:08

I worked with a Johnny Walker once and made the mistake of referring to him as Jack Daniels once but I was very young at the time.

oiwhatsoccurring · 13/09/2008 07:38

I was at the park yesterday and a woman had called her daughter mango.
