Is it not bad enough to try and be a good parent / step parent without having to watch shite like that on tv, Don't both mothers and fathers who have split up get enough bad press already.....
Yes I understand not all step families mesh but ffs why do they portray parents in such a bad way....Who would speak to his teenage son like that "your mum doesnt want you neither do i" and what woman in her right mind would send an 8yr old into the bushes to have a wee without going with her never mind walking off...I know its not real but my god it has really made my blood boil...What did you think??? Am I just to naive??

no he felt lonely and didnt want to be alone so he thought she was asleep and went into her room just to share space with someone i did that with my brother sometimes at that age but she was awake...she thinks that if she lies that he has touched her they'll have to go and dad can move back in...

it might be a red herring but when he was watching her dance he was looking her up and down in a way that was bordering sexual. and the camera lingered on that a bit.

bloomingfedup · 09/09/2008 00:11

So he did'nt touch her up? It was the bit when she was in the bushes and he was doing all the voices as well. Prehaps a bit close to home for me as something similar happened to me in RL - but was touched up - IYSWIM.

magicfarawaytree · 09/09/2008 00:12

you dont know that he did and you dont know that he didnt.

jojostar · 09/09/2008 00:13

I dont know if its something sinister or proving the innocence of children who don't see the dark side of life because they've not come across it.. the dancing bit didnt bother me i didnt really see that as sexual was it meant to be?

OP posts:
bloomingfedup · 09/09/2008 00:15

See I'm not sure as I was'nt paying full attention but I was 'abused' by a 'boy' who was 14 and I was younger.

jojostar · 09/09/2008 00:17

sorry to hear that bloomingfedup theres so many issue i suppose eh... the response is what itv wanted i expect get people talking

OP posts:
bloomingfedup · 09/09/2008 00:20

I'll be interested to see how it pans out. I always thought that other people may not see my case as abuse as the 'boy' was 14 but it has and still does deeply affect me to this day. I have never heard of a case like mine either. Will be watching closley.

jojostar · 09/09/2008 00:22

want to watch it but really wanted to turn it off tonight was becoming far too involved....

Gateau · 09/09/2008 08:46

So who do you think did it? don;t think it was the son or his mother - far too obvious.
So who then??!
I think it's excellent - quite tense.

2beornot2be · 09/09/2008 09:09

The boy was not abusing her the Babysitter told her about sex stuff and she is lying to get rid of him. I feel sorry for the boy I think its her step mother who kills the girl.

I must say I really dislike that emily girl there is something not right about her.

Gateau · 09/09/2008 09:15

I think it's the little girl's father - not sure why yet, but I think everyone else is oo obvious.
Also feel REALLy sorry for the son. Nobody wants him. Boo hoo.

pagwatch · 09/09/2008 09:16

I watched the first episode and didn't bother to watch last night. I thought it was total shite and i agree with the op.
Just because it is a drama does not make it ok to descend in to ridiculous stereotyping. The characters are nearly all totally two dimensional. In fact I thought the teenage boy was the only slightly rounded characterisation. Crap. Total crap.
And still think the idea of Kevin Whately snogging was ....
His agent clearly thought this would help round his CV out a bit more.

2beornot2be · 09/09/2008 09:19

It could be her mother look how she was when her DP was talking to that other woman maybe because of the little girls lies it drives her dp into the other womans arms and the mother kills her daughter

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/09/2008 09:25

Am wondering whether Emily deliberately injures herself and it has awful consequences?
Feel sorry for both the kids actually, little girls that age are still over run with imagination, and can work themselves up mixing reality with fantasy. Though she did deliberately lie to get her Dad back.

noddyholder · 09/09/2008 09:28

I think her real dad too.

Gateau · 09/09/2008 09:33

Maybe it's becasue her real Dad talked to his girlfriend about having a little brother or sister for the baby - family unit complete. And Emily would only be disturbing that nice little set-up. Or maybe I'm talking shite.
Still think it was him tho.

beansprout · 09/09/2008 09:36

There is a problem with the casting in that you have a 17 year old boy playing a 14 yo, so it's hard to remember quite how young he is supposed to be. I think he is exercising power where he can. It does make for hard viewing though.

SlartyBartFast · 09/09/2008 21:14

perhaps it was the boy's mother. she noticed how manipulative emily had become

ethanchristopher · 10/09/2008 21:47

ffs i know what you mean

people dont think when they write programs like this

they dont realise the stereotypes stick!!

however - i do like the children

ethanchristopher · 10/09/2008 21:49

and i think it is the real dad too

because she does something else to the baby

julie1966 · 15/09/2008 18:02

I actually missed last weeks programme, can anyone give me a quick catch up

thanks

TimeForMe · 15/09/2008 22:00

So who was it? Am I being thick? I'm confused

zookeeper · 15/09/2008 22:02

Please somebody put me out of my misery - who did it?

roisin · 15/09/2008 22:11

The point is none of the adults were behaving responsibly and any of them were capable of having done it.
