I support tennis! And in the interests of tennis, Fed had to win. He has had a shocking time at the hands of the media - how many players do you know who could reach 3 GS finals, 1 GS semi, (with glandular fever), get an Olympic Gold and be written off as 'terrible year, it's the end of his time as a decent tennis player'.
He NEEDED to authoritatively win this final, not for him but for his critics. And YAY he did!
Murray will have many more chances.
It's not just Federer's inherent hotness that makes me support him, it's the beauty and quality of his tennis, the integrity with which he takes his role as an 'ambassador' of the sport.
I will say, I felt sorry for Murray last night - he looked done in, and it must have been hard coming the day after the Nadal match - he should be very proud of beating Nadal - and his post-match interview was excellent - suitably respectful and not dwelling on the wrongly called ball.
