cocky and arrogant often makes a winner. We don't have many cocky arrogant sportsmen and women because they rarely win. they have nothng much to be cocky abut so it gets knocked out of them at some point and they become "nice".

Don;t feel that strongly about Murray tbh but would be nice to have the winner for a change instead of the sporting loser.

mm22bys · 08/09/2008 15:23

YANBU.

Go Federer!

(Have you seen all the anti-Murray Facebook groups? We're not alone!)

Scotia · 08/09/2008 15:38

YANBU! He's a bad winner and a bad loser and I can't suffer him. I far prefer his brother as a sportsman.

nooka · 08/09/2008 15:38

It's always unreasonable to want someone to lose. Nothing wrong with wanting the other guy to win though.

compo · 08/09/2008 15:39

I don't care if he's cocky and arrogant
I just think it would be great if we could win a grand slam

CoteDAzur · 08/09/2008 15:58

I watched him in Monte-Carlo Masters Series and he was quite impressive.

Fimbo · 08/09/2008 16:01

Is he still prone to throwing up on court? (that alone puts me off him)

noddyholder · 08/09/2008 16:03

Nooooooooo he has to win and I love federer but murray is the real deal We have to support him!

TheFallenMadonna · 08/09/2008 16:04

Cannot warm to Andy Murray.

Same as Paula Radcliffe. Marvellous of course, but just don't warm to them.

And am awfully fond of Federer.

Am torn...

Lauriefairycake · 08/09/2008 16:13

I want Murray to win.

he's a kid so his personality's not fully developed yet and frankly he's a bit of a genius at tennis so it's bound to make him a bit temperamental.

I've never got that whole 'ambassador for the sport thing', to me the most interesting people are a bit like him, intense, hugely motivated and couldn't give a fuck about anyone else.

He will be much more amenable when he's older, for now he's just a driven, single-minded bairn.

MadameCastafiore · 08/09/2008 16:14

Oooohhhh I don't want Murray to lose I just sooooo want Federer to win - he is hot hot hot (weird but hot!)

ihearthuckabees · 08/09/2008 16:18

YABVU.

Jeez, don't we want a Brit to win?

And Nadal and Federer both just as ugly, so you can't use that as an argument against Murray.

Elasticwoman · 08/09/2008 16:23

Yes very unreasonable. I hope the best man wins and I hope it's Murray. He can't help his face and he's done well to get this far esp as he survived the Dunblane tragedy of 1996. Pretty unreasonable to criticise him for any character or appearance defects after that.

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/09/2008 16:25

he's a miserable, charmless git, imo. so I tend to agree with expat- thoroughly unreasonable of me, but there you go.

moodlumthehoodlum · 08/09/2008 16:34

lol at Madamcastafiore Federer.. Hot? I just don't get that.

but I agree with expat. Hate andy murray, so much that would even back weirdy Federer.

tortoiseshell · 08/09/2008 16:36

Federer is so not ugly. He can look a bit goofy, but get him on court and he really is very hot!

Federer needs to win tonight - more than Murray - he's got his whole career ahead, Federer needs to silence the critics. And is playing stunningly!

CountessDracula · 08/09/2008 16:37

I can't warm to him either with his miserable little bum-fluff covered face (HAVE A SHAVE MATE YOU WON'T LOOK 14 THEN)

But he is playing amazing tennis

Having said that I prefer spain to scotland so maybe I should support Rafa (i LOVE him too despite his appalling clothes and constant arse picking)

GivePeasAChance · 08/09/2008 16:37

VVVVVVVVVVVVU

CountessDracula · 08/09/2008 16:37

oh no that was yesterday
oh god Federer is so dull too though

CountessDracula · 08/09/2008 16:38

and tbh am neutral about switzerland
(serves them right really)

MadameCastafiore · 08/09/2008 16:40

What has him surviving Dunblane got anything to do with him being a successful tennis player?

tortoiseshell · 08/09/2008 16:43

This is not an ugly man
nice arms
concentration
taking a shot
chest

and by contrast

murray and his bumfluff beard

ImnotMamaGbutsheLovesMe · 08/09/2008 16:45

YABU

expatinscotland · 08/09/2008 16:50

you can see Roger driving a Mercedes sports car through the Alps, a Rolex stylishly on his wrist, looking good and smelling good.

by contrast, you can see Murray cutting someone up in the Beemer, causing a multicar pile-up and driving off gurning 'Wanker!'

he's miserable and that makes him even less attractive.

that mother of his! god, she looks like she could turn a man to stone with a glance.
