in the winter, i would be covered, so wouldnt get cold, no matter what.
in the summer, i would save a fortune on sun protection . facial cleansers, toners, exfoliators. need less moisturising cream as face woudlnt constantly be lambasted by the sun and wind. i would reduce my risk of skin cancer, and save the nhs a packet too. it would be good for the environment, as i would have to buy less heavily packaged skin creams etc...

I don't know how you can disagree with someone choosing to cover themselves up. It's personal choice. We still have nuns.

harpsichordcarrier · 08/09/2008 16:31

actually rebelmum I have seen women wearing burkhas with their tits out (bf) (I used to work in Middle Eastern countries before having children) and no-one bats an eyelid then either.

OrmIrian · 08/09/2008 16:32

Was going to post a vaguely amusing comment but I see the thread has got serious now.

"we" still have nuns
I don't disagree with anyone wearing whatever they like but to suggest it is always a question of personal choice is rather naive and simplistic, to say the least.

Ledodgy - I am on same wavelength as you...but think it's that no-one assumed that the OP might actually be muslim,

Ledodgy · 08/09/2008 16:34

Ah right I get you now. Yes I thought that was strange too.

I think both positions of covering to prevent any sexual attention (thus accepting that it is your duty) or wanting to be judged on your body alone are equally as flawed. Both reduce women to the whims of men and diminish choices of women.

DaphneMoon · 08/09/2008 17:11

I think you will find it is not out of choice for most of them anyway. I think it is rather sad in this day and age.

oh, for goodness sake.
this thread was a very light hearted one. why did it need to be turned into a religious one?
let me rephrase the question. in the winter, i wish to dress so that i am warm. in the summer i wish to dress so that i am cool and protected from the sun. in both cases i wish to dress so that i am protected from the elements, ie, the weather!!!!
thomcat, i agree with your post about this thread being in bad taste. it was terrible judgement. i should have known better than to think i could have a light hearted discussion about this topic.

yes ledodgy. although no doubt many people disagree faith cannot be judged by outward appearances, or mn threads.
