I.E. Ask an AIBU? that will get a resounding YABU then reveal details to let us see why actually YANBU but missed the important bits out of the op.

Like this one from Scottishmummy.

AIBU - my MIL (always)wont come and see me despite having gammy legs, bad teeth and one eye

YABU

OP (eventually)but MIL is a conniving miserable manipulative woman who locks my children in the cupboard and beats them.she has gammy legs running away from social workers who rescued dc

weeell had you mentioned that to begin with.....

I was going to do something similar VS!

AIBU to leave my ds in the playpen while I take a shower?

(later) Oh, he's 12!!

cestlavie · 02/09/2008 13:06

VS Or the alternative, "reveal by stealth" the borderline psychosis of the OP.

AIBU to still rock my baby to sleep at night even though he's over 2 years old?

YABU

BUT! If I don't the hamsters who live in the trees will come and take my baby and take him to their kingdom and raise him as one of theirs, sob.

tamarto · 02/09/2008 13:08

LOL

AIBU to sit at the PC all day despite having 3DCs?

YABU

BUT! They are on holiday with their GPS

VictorianSqualor · 02/09/2008 13:12

AIBU To be pissed off that DH has spent the last week with this woman whilst I'm at home looking after our DCs? Apparently he even holds her hand and kisses her cheek

YANBU

I know, it's not my fault his mum is ill in hospital.

i quite like AIBU as it is. the gradual unravelling of what's really bugging the op...

op: AIBU to expect dp to do the feckin hoovering once in a while?
GutReaction: YANBU! what an arse!
BandWagon: yeah! leave him leave him!
BitterAndTwisted: my dp was like this. i cut his balls off, haha!
JollyReasonable: why does the hoovering worry you so much?
op: it's cos my mother always points out how mucky the carpet is
GutReaction: it's not her feckin carpet
BandWagon: get her to hoover it if she's so worried!
AmateurPsychologist: did your mother make you do the hoovering when you were little?
op: yes and i've got lingering asthma from the dust

etc etc. it's like i imagine oprah would be, if i could tear myself away from the pc long enough to switch the telly on

laweaselmys · 02/09/2008 13:17

okay asicsgirl wins.

themildmanneredstalker · 02/09/2008 13:19

snort and snigger! i love this!!!!!

merryberry · 02/09/2008 13:19

AIBU to rofl?

Guadalupe · 02/09/2008 13:23
  • AIBU to want to kill DH?
  • YABU, You must not kill your husband.
  • But I don't want to kill my husband, my hamster is called dh.
BitOfFun · 02/09/2008 13:23

I am trying not to cry reading this while at work - you are all so funny! I thought asics' post was particularly acute!

BroccoliSpears · 02/09/2008 13:26

YABU! Don't kill your hamster!

OP: But my hamster is crossed with a Rottweiler and recently attacked my granny.

ScottishMummy · 02/09/2008 13:28

aibu to think my dad is a dirty ole man

YABU

but he is peter stringfellow dating plastic titted fembots

themildmanneredstalker · 02/09/2008 13:29

or-aibu to think my dad is a dirty old man

yabu!
but he's 85 and hasn't a bath for 3 years!

thumbwitch · 02/09/2008 13:30

pmsl at asicsgirl

GooseyLoosey · 02/09/2008 13:31

OP: AIBU to think that this woman should not have criticised me for being a SAHM, especially infront of my ds.

AB: YANBU - stupid woman, how dare she
Xenia: its a valid view point, every woman who expects to be taken seriously should work
AB: Xenia, how unsympathetic, how could you?

OP: Thanks for the support AB. I mean, its not like there is a cut off date for returning to work and a 34 year old can need just as much support as a 4 year old.

VictorianSqualor · 02/09/2008 13:32

AIBU Not to have fed my children yet today?

YABU iT'S 1:30!!!

But I live in Oz!

OP posts:
S1ur · 02/09/2008 13:33

lol @acis

Ronaldinhio · 02/09/2008 13:33

So what I really wanted to ask was...

AIBU to lie in bed all day whilst husband looks after the DC?

But I'm pregnant and have been advised to by my doctor and I'm going to agressively defend my decision as reasonable

"Oh no she didn't" in a Jerry Springer stylie

thumbwitch · 02/09/2008 13:34

VS - even WORSE! it's 10:30pm in Oz

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 02/09/2008 13:34

AIBU to think that mil should not let my dc's eat chocolate mini eggs?

YABU

BUT they are lactose intolerant.

Boco · 02/09/2008 13:35

who was it who said that really funny thing, on that other thread about the pregnant lady not wanting to get out of bed. Something like

'withholding information in the op? this is an internet chat forum, not the fucking hague!'

Made me laugh. So true though, sometimes it is like chatting with an ace legal team on crack.

tamarto · 02/09/2008 13:35

AIBU to not pick my 5 year old up from school

YABU he's too young to walk home alone

But he's going home with his friend for tea!

VictorianSqualor · 02/09/2008 13:35

Ooops

OP posts:
AnnVan · 02/09/2008 13:36

ScottishMummy · 02/09/2008 13:37

AIBU to think my sister should eat some pies, lay off the fake tan and unclench

YABU and jealous

But she is victoria beckham
