Saw it for the first time on Monday and again on Wedneday this week.

Both times to packed audiences.

I have looked at the cinema schedule and it has been out about 7 weeks now and they are begining to reduce the amount of showings.

I need to see it again before waiting a few months for the DVD release!

Am desperate!

I've seen it twice now - first time with bessie mate and we loved it, 2nd time I took mum and MIL and they all loved it too. I was resisting going for a third time but think I might now. I've heard there's a sing-a-long round here somewhere too. I'm off to check.

bagsforlife · 22/08/2008 20:55

I really didnt want to see it, would never have gone to the stage show, hate things like that, got forced to go, AND it is BRILLIANT...did have several glasses of wine beforehand and was really ready to HATE it, but loved every minute of it and now want to go again! Found it absolutely hilarious, although not sure it was meant to be THAT funny.

teafortwo · 22/08/2008 21:08

Moondog - how do you know until you have tried both of those things, what you would like best and least?

Happy go lucky is what I want to see - It comes out where I live at the end of this month!!!

Been twice - once with a friend, and then took my team from work on Monday night. Enjoyed it immensely both times, and would happily go again.

Dh is a cinema manager, and they have been selling out Mamma Mia show after show every night, even when they put on extra shows at 10:30 at night .

There is a singalong version coming out - am v tempted to go with the dd's just to embarrass them!

AbbaFan · 22/08/2008 22:37

I've seen it once - loved it and want to go again.

I have never known a film like it - everyone I know has seen it twice or wants to go again.

It's the music that make it, I think.

Remotew · 22/08/2008 22:38

I'm dragging me sis tommorrow night, she better not let me down, for the singalong show. Do you think we will enjoy it. It will be our first time.

vixma · 22/08/2008 22:44

No not if you love it.

midlandsmumof4 · 22/08/2008 23:39

Went to see it on a girls night out with my sisters & neices etc-not really my cup of tea. Don't mind Abba songs but you have to really like musicals to enjoy this imoh.

mears · 22/08/2008 23:49

Don't think I would like the singalong show - I like to herar the actors sing - not the audience.

Was at a singalong (accidentally) of Grease and hated it.

zazen · 22/08/2008 23:56

I saw the stage show and loved it - can't wait to see the film.

Moondog - steady now girl and please leave Dearest Patrick out of this

midlandsmumof4 · 23/08/2008 01:33

Film is very tongue in cheek. Mears, please bear in mind that actors-especially Pierce Brosnan-can't actually sing very well although he tried, bless. (Our audience didn't singalong TG,just a few giggles). And Zazen-haven't seen the stage show but having watched TV shows like the search for Maria etc. assume these participants can actually hold a tune on stage so don't have too higher hopes. BTW, aging hippy Meryl Streep in cropped dungarees and long frizzy blonde hair is a sight to see.

Weegiemum · 23/08/2008 02:32

I went to that stage show under sufferance (best friend's birthday) and thought "well there's 2 hours and £25 I'll never see again"

Story crap, Singing OK. And I love ABBA.

Was bored, adn just not bothered by the whole thing!

Shoudl I give the cinema a miss? DD1 (8) wants to see as many girls in her class have been.

mears · 23/08/2008 09:17

midlandsmum - when I went to a singalong of Grease I just hated so would expect the singalong to MammaMia to be a horrible experience. There is a difference between people quitely joining in that everyone sining gungho - I am not much into audience participation

Pierce Brosnan is not a great singer but I still wanted to hear him.

Weegiemum - I would take your 8 year old - I am sure you would enjoy it for what it is. The scenery is lovely.

strawberryfields · 23/08/2008 20:03

Gawd I must be the only person who thought it was dreadful and cringeworthy and generally crap then? I would rather eat my own intestines than go again. My nan did enjoy it though so not an entirely wasted afternoon...

slayerette · 23/08/2008 20:11

I went twice and would love to go again. Went with girlfriends both times and we were totally caught up in it. It's just such a fantastic, lift-your-spirits film. Also, right at the beginning, you see the spot on Skiathos where dh and I got engaged

mummyloveslucy · 23/08/2008 20:30

What age ratting is it? My daughter loves abba she's 3.5.

charliecat · 23/08/2008 20:31

I am a miserable old cow who hates the cinema, I really liked it.

shhhh · 23/08/2008 23:10

I saw it with dh...on our wedding anniversary . I luurrrvvveeed it but dh claims he only watched it out of love for me . He was so bored and spent the whole film surfing the internet on his mob .

I loved it so much that I went again with my mum as my dad refused to go with her !

They are now showing it as "sing along sessions" which I think is fab. So want to go again before its removed and we have to wait for the dvd..

Its such a feel good, happy film that from starts to finish makes you want to get up and dance and sing .
Sad as well in places...gosh I hate crying in public places as well .

snap sallystrawberry . I last went to the cinema 3 years ago before I had dd and prior to that dh had to drag me there..I can't sit still for more than 5 mins and I get so bored watching films. BUT mm was different.Felt like the film was only 5 mins long.!!

Remotew · 24/08/2008 00:46

Oh my god, I've been to see this film tonight. I sobbed my fecking heart out. I was expecting a feel good experience, but no me being me I spilt my guts.

Something to do with being a single mum of one DD I sobbed. The getting ready for the wedding with the fantasic song 'slipping through my fingers' just threw me. My sis knew it would and for the first time ever gave me a little hug.
