I had an altercation with a lady a couple of days ago. She was parked up on a corner on the pavement. No room for me to get through with buggy and 3 yr old, so we had to try and walk out into a busy road to get past. I shot her 'a look' when we got round to the front of the vehicle, and she shouted something out. I didn't her so went and asked her to repeat herself. 'I said its no good shooting me dirty looks, i'm waiting for someone in the job centre so I have to wait here'. I pointed out the car park across the road and told her that she shouldn't be blocking the pavement. She retorted i should have asked her to move!! Erm how? Tell my 3 yr old to wait on the pavement (I do wish he always did as he was told but by lord he doesn't!) and go round the van to ask her to move? What would be the point in that! GRrrrr!

I have a neighbour who is blind, and relies on a guide dog.

She's had to get the parish council involved, such is the problem in our village. Everytime the poor woman goes out, she knocks herself on someone's bloody car. I have been heavily involved in the process at parish level, simply due to the number of times me and ds have had no other recourse but to walk out on a very busy highstreet with blind spots/building works, etc.

Incidentally, I have never scratched someone's car other than in my imagination. I just wondered whether it might be possible to winkle out a few serial offenders by my bogus admission.

I'm not saying I never would, though. There's a person who parks a purple Astra on the corner on my local nursery. He/she blocks the pavement every day, and forces parents and small children out onto a blind bend. I'm very tempted to take a flame torch to it.

So, Southeast, and ScottishMummy .. why exactly do you feel that it's your right and privilege to park on pavements?

because there's no room on the road, i do leave room for a blind person to pass safetly. only once a week though

ScottishMummy · 25/07/2008 23:53

dont think you can legitimately argue because i encroach pavement sometimes makes it ok.

bit like i only let the dog poop in the palypark sometimes

YANBU, this makes my farking blood boil too. I live opposite a school and can't understand why some selfish bastards are so ignorant and/or thick when they park on pavements, yellow school lines and across driveways. I always scrape the pushchair past their cars whilst spouting how selfish and stupid they are and gave one selfish cow an ear-bashing for parking across my driveway and she retaliated by saying if I wanted to act posh then I should live in a posh area. WTF?!!! I politely told her she should be teaching her child some manners and respect for other people's property. She didn't park there again . I like the idea of having notes to put on people's windscreens
