To expect my £600 pram to still work properly and not move like a wonky shopping trolley?!

Hiya,

I have a Quinny Buzz which we have been using for DS for almost 9 months now. It used to ride beautifully and could swivel round anything but it's a NIGHTMARE now! I'm not sure when it started to go wonky as it's been very gradual but I have recently noticed that I can't push it with one hand anymore and I have to seriously yank it with two hands to get it round some bends. I keep bumping into things in shops and my hands and arms are hurting!

Has anyone else had this problem with a Quinny or other pram? Do you think I should contact the manufacturer? It's pretty annoying that this can happen when the thing cost so much in the first place, plus it's also had about 8 punctures and 2 new inner tubes along the way. Grrrrrrrrrrrr!

I've found as DS has got heavier our Buzz is much more difficult to swivel. How heavy is your DS? I have a second, lightweight buggy and it is much easier to use.

I think you should contact the shop you bought it from, as I'm sure it will have 12 month guarantee. So I would move quickly on it

are the back wheels pumped up equally.

also have you used any wd40 on the front wheel to keep it moving well?

I have got the Quinny Speedi and found that some of the screws would start to work their way out, so would have to be re-tightened.

That's a lot of punctures, do you take it 'off road'? If not, I would contact Quinny about it.

Why would you spend £600 on a pram? Did you not think it was quite a lot? I would want it to fly too for that price.

We have a Buzz too, although didn't pay nearly that much for it I have to say.

It's fine, although same as llareggub it is more awkward now DS is heavier and I have a Zapp in the car to take round town.

Buzz is great for bumpy terrain/dog walking and we have it in the hallway to bung DS in if I need to nip out to the shop or go to the park or whatever.

Well I have a dyson and that's a load of crap so I can't say anything really. I didn't buy it though it was a present from my dp (wail!).

Flowery, funnily enough we also have the Zapp! It is much easier for me to push and steer but it is a real pain that it doesn't have a basket.

Indeed, is a pain.

We have a handy bag that straps on to the back, kind of long and thinnish, that we got from these people as recommended by someone on here. I can't actually see the product on there though. There was the bag and a net for underneath as well, designed for the Zapp although not by Quinny.

It's really good actually, we keep shopping bags and the raincover in it. Might be worth emailing them about it.

My Buzz did that when I had one and it was the screws coming loose.
You must check and tighten them if needed as I left mine a bit too long and one fell out when I was out and I had to carry DS home and push pram one handed!!

Take it back to where you bought it from. It will still be under warranty and the shop will be responsible for it as your contract is with them. Alternatively you can contact Quinny and ask what they advise as they may have an after sales service, but don't be surprised if they tell you to go back to the shop. Oh and you will need proof of purchase.

All the bits and bobs added up to around £600, the chassis, the carrycot, the stroller part, the footmuff, the basket and the car seat. Pricey I know but we want it to last for ages and for (hopefully) other babes in future. Quite a few were this price for a whole travel system, was I robbed???

We have a lightweight McLaren that lives in the car boot and I much prefer using that. Quinny lives in the hall though so I use it when going for longish walks. I take it on normal pavements and on some woodland paths occasionally but it's been punctured by rose twigs (!!!), glass etc.

llaregub- DS is approx 20lbs now but I wouldn't expect his weight to cause probs given the pram is meant to last many years!

I will check the screws and put some WD40 on to see if that helps- will contact the retailer too to see what they say to it!

Not a help I know, but my Buzz is the same, I have to fight to steer the damn thing.

Am getting the Pliko back out at the weekend.

Didn'y see that bit. Might I also add that I after it has been out in the rain it is even harder to push and I have tried WD40'ing the swivel to no avail. I squirted it all in the worked it round properly and left it to 'soak in' overnight and it is still the same.
With regards the screw that comes out, Quinny will advise you to get a nylon nut to put on it instead, they are fully aware the nut works loose and do nothing, which in my book is shocking as our nut nearly worked right off one day, God knows what could have happened then, and still they sell them like it.
DH took ours into work and changed the bolt and nut completely and so far it is now okay.

i bought the citizens advice book about knowing your rights and it says stuff should be fit for purpose for 6 years, so they have to replace or fix it, no quibbles.

Oh fair enough with the price, if you include carrycot footmuff and car seat (plus isofix base probably) as well, then we probably paid about that much.

fwiw buy a bugaboo 2 yr guarntee fantastic pram great aftersales help too

When I had some trouble with my Quinny Buzz, I contacted Quinny directly and they were extremely helpful and sent out a replacement within a couple of days.
So worth contacting them, I think.

Alistairsim- how did you contact them? Via thir website or by telephone? Can I ask what was wrong with your Quinny?
