To expect my £600 pram to still work properly and not move like a wonky shopping trolley?!

Hiya,

I have a Quinny Buzz which we have been using for DS for almost 9 months now. It used to ride beautifully and could swivel round anything but it's a NIGHTMARE now! I'm not sure when it started to go wonky as it's been very gradual but I have recently noticed that I can't push it with one hand anymore and I have to seriously yank it with two hands to get it round some bends. I keep bumping into things in shops and my hands and arms are hurting!

Has anyone else had this problem with a Quinny or other pram? Do you think I should contact the manufacturer? It's pretty annoying that this can happen when the thing cost so much in the first place, plus it's also had about 8 punctures and 2 new inner tubes along the way. Grrrrrrrrrrrr!

My DS is approximately 27 pounds...not sure as I have to rely on standing him on the scales to weigh him!

I know that Quinny market the Buzz as being suitable for up to 3 plus, but really, I think it is the weight issue that is causing the steering problems. Quite a few of my friends have the Buzz and we've all experienced the same thing.

Sorry, I mean my Zapp, not Buzz. The brakes wouldn't stay on, so I wrote to them using the address on the website.

They called me within 24 hours.

HOW MUCH???????

farking nora, what does it do, levitate????

ScottishMummy · 16/07/2008 15:53

some prams cost @£600 region when you add accessories eg Bugaboo cameleon,Xplory, skate

Blandmum · 16/07/2008 16:01

Why?

what on earth makes them worth that much?

Granted my kids are older now (8 and 11) but even taking into account inflation I didn't pay anything like that amount for a pram/pushchair combo

llareggub · 16/07/2008 16:21

I bought a Buzz and had the footmuff thing, bag, carry-cot etc and paid nowhere near £600. But then I am queen of the internet bargain and really shopped around.

Mamatastic · 16/07/2008 16:26

I just found my receipt and we actually paid £470 as we got the carrycot bit for free. Still loads though!

Where did you get it from?? I had a similar problem with a pram that I bought from John Lewis after it being sent to the repair place for over 6 weeks only to return and develop the same fault, and spend another 2 months being repaired. They gave me a full refund and I bought a different pushchair. By the way if it was JL they always give you a "courtesy" pushchair in the meantime. YANBU - although £600 was a lot !!

ScottishMummy · 16/07/2008 19:41

JL have amazing aftercare service. i bought a bugaboo bee twice chassis had fault wouldn't open.they replaced twice then full refund when i returned it

HollyandNoah · 16/07/2008 23:59

I know I should try to offer some helpful nugget of advice, and not be so smug, but I can't help myself...

I bought a Graco travel system (with car-seat, raincover, footmuff, car-seat base, matching rucksack, etc, etc) for £160, four and a half years ago. I've used it for both my children (the youngest will be 2 tomorrow). I can still push it with one hand with a (nearly) 2 year old in the seat, a 4 year old on the buggy board, and a dog in the other hand.

I guess expensive isn't always better!

I'll stop being smug now, and suggest you call the manufacturers/retailers to complain.

ScottishMummy · 17/07/2008 08:51
