My dm expects us to drop evrything to go and see my sibling in their performance.

She has arranged it at a time when my dp will have to take time off work as I have no other childcare and she will not look after the other younger one.

It is 10 miles from where we live and i cannot drive so will have to be ferried by dp too.

All for a 30min show.

I CANNOT BEAR people who sulk, and therefore get everyone around them dancing to their tune. The more you conform, the more she'll continue. You don't have to do as she says, and if she sulks for months, then let her get on with it. Enjoy the break from her. Think Mazzystar has the solution.

As long as she sulks in the privacy and comfort of her own home, I don't see the problem.

What does the sibling think about this? When I was in school things I would have been disappointed if no-one had been able to come to any of the performances, but I didn't expect family in the audience for afternoon and evening.

YANBU to so no by the way. Your Mum is being really childish to sulk and you have a very valid reason why you can't make it.

Why don't you go to the afternoon one?

I've got a mum just like yours. Everytime I say the word "no" to her she sulks and doesn't talk to me for weeks - (i love it)

Now, when she brings it up, effect an air of disappointment and say things like "Yes, it was a shame to miss it, if only you'd booked the right ticket."
