You can use the internet anywhere. The iPhone I have at the moment connects to the Edge network if there is no wifi. But it's stupidly slow although I can survive with it. The new one will use 3G which is oodles faster. But all data is included so you can surf all day and you don't have to pay anything extra.

You have to have one. It's just unthinkable not to. I got one in November but thought I wouldn't use it much as I was expecting dd so wouldn't be on trains etc for work. I use it all the time. It got me through the 3am feeds. I can use it one handed where I couldn't use the laptop. I had free internet in hospital fgs!

o2 are actually usually very good but their sales dept at the moment need shooting. Fuckwits.

ooooh. is very excited. I am currently with t mobile and I heart their service and my mda vario - my life is on there, and my music etc is on my ipod touch. I've been stroking the new apple idea where everything is automatically uploaded to the internet and then distributed to key devices without wires. v. clever.

Will iphone do satnav? I know it has the google maps thingy. If it comes to the worst, I can get a payg chip put into my mda to make it function so that I can still use satnav software on it.

Well, to be truthful I haven't used the maps as I have a separate tomtom but I've just played about with it and it has brought up a little map with a big pin on my road name so it seems to work ok.

Which begs the question, why did I buy a tomtom???

However there my sympathy ends.

a) You want an iphone - they are utterly crap. When Apple brought them out they had sooo many flaws so of course when they brought out the new model that supposedly fixed all the flaws they got themselves loads of free publicity because of people talking about how utterly crap the iphone is.

b)Now the thread title made me pmsl. But then I don't have kids who peer over my shoulder like many other MNers do who would also find it amusing. Much to the annoyance of said MNers.
