If so, try to sell me somewhere else.

Haven't booked holiday yet, so probably wont manage anything in Cornwall.

So we might not get to the beach this year.
[unthinkable emoticon]

Pleas bear in mind I'm a Midlander.

I live in Dorset but my favourite beaches are definitely in the Gower.

One of the most chilled out evenings of my life was as a student avoiding revision, sitting at the top of the cliff at Rhossili Bay, watching the sun set. Absolutely stunning.

mazzystar · 06/07/2008 13:31

oh rhossili - its glorious - its the kind of place where there is no such thing as bad weather because its fabulous even in the rain

just back from whitby - camping, beach at sandsend - scorchio weather

also holkham/wells/burnham in norfolk

mrz · 06/07/2008 13:32

Obviously wasn't looking very hard there are some lovely places to eat in Northumberland and lots of things to see and do.

LynetteScavo · 06/07/2008 13:41

But there is no Fifteen in Northumberland!

One of lifes little sacrifices for other benefits.

reethi96 · 06/07/2008 13:57

If you like Cornwall, you will love Pembrokeshire. It is just like Cornwall, but with less people.

YABU by the way, Britain is full of beautiful beaches.

LynetteScavo · 06/07/2008 14:08

No no! Bad cold experience in Pembrokeshire!

Have sworn never to go again!

Cornwall is beautiful though...and i do know what you mean...i definitely need my fix every year
North Norfolk is lovely
and Pembrokeshire too

SilentTerror · 06/07/2008 14:41

We do Cornwall every May and adore it,so totaly understand.
In August we alternate between North Norfolk and Suffolk, both of which have great beaches and loads to see and do.
This year however we are going to West Wittering in August,so delighted to see recommendation on here! Then France.
I would love Northumberland, especially in the Autumn, and know Dorset well so can recommend also.
The uk is full of fantastic beaches. I can never understand people lying like sardines on Spanish ones to be honest.

llareggub · 06/07/2008 18:34

We went to Fifteen last week and found it to be very over-rated.

notasheep · 06/07/2008 18:46

I USE to go to Cornwall but 7 years ago i discovered Wales.Never been back to Cornwall.
Then i am bias as live in Wales and feel like i am permanently on holiday

iamdingdong · 06/07/2008 18:49

no you're quite right, nothing nice elsewhere, stay in cornwall, we don't want people coming up to the north east and spoiling the peace and quiet with their fancy ways and posh food

cupcakesinthesnow · 06/07/2008 19:18

I live in Dorset and prefer quiet beaches - not keen at all on the touristy ones. My favourite beach is the one I spent my youth onMan O War Bay which is next to Durdle Door. It's a hike to get to and does get very busy in season but I go early and leave by lunchtime when the hoards arrive.

I am fortunate to live near Brownsea Island which we are even more fortunate enough to be able to get to on our little boat but a ferry also goes from a couple of places in Poole. The beach at Brownsea is lovely with rope swings hanging from the trees for children to play on. The walls arond the island are gorgeous with peacocks, deer and red squirrels at every turn. Only about 5 peole live in the island - how lucky are they?!

There are so many lovely beaches in Dorset - Sandbanks is rather well known I think, Durley Chine, Branksome Chime also great for a quick dip on a hot day after school.

MilaMae · 06/07/2008 19:37

I adore Cornwall too so have high beach standards ,live in Devon and have to say Blackpool Sands is as beautiful(obviously I'm biased),fab Venus cafe so masses of organic food too (think it turns into a fish cafe at night some nights). Lovely walks nearby and a stream into the sea that my kids love to shoot down on their blow up crocodile

Bigbury is nice too very Enid Blyton,we often take a throw away bbq but there is another Venus cafe there and of course the sea tractor.

Wish this bloody weather would clear up dying to dust off the wet suits!!!!!!!!

mamablue · 06/07/2008 20:35

Isle of Wight. Perfect. Touristy beaches if you want or some out of the way gorgeaus white sandy bays all to yourself. Take your pick.

Twelvelegs · 06/07/2008 20:41

Devon beaches are beautiful as is Devon. Also west coast of Wales. Croyd, westword ho, bude all great beaches filled with great sand for sandcastles, rock pools and yummy surfers.

saggyhairyarse · 06/07/2008 21:36

Blackpool Sands in devon for organic ice cream.

I must admit to also finding Cornwall disappointing. Wales hits our buttons

FrayedKnot · 06/07/2008 21:52

Little Haven and Broad Haven beaches in Pembrokeshire

cheesesarnie · 06/07/2008 21:57

nothing wrong with cornwall me 'ansom.

im here-what could be better!

blackrock · 06/07/2008 22:00

Check out Narborough beach on Angelsea. Beautiful and not so busy. I love cornwall, but only because I live nearby. There are other beautiful beaches.

Pembrokeshire

North Norfolk

The Gower, Wales

Dorset

taipo · 06/07/2008 22:08

I want to go to the Gower after looking at your link llareggub.

Isle of Wight is fantastic.

TwoFir · 07/07/2008 15:36

Cant beat fossil hunting at Lyme to keep you busy on holiday
