I finally found some in Sainsburys today - i think Asda might sell them but cant get them online

The 50/50 Kingsmill is available in my local aldi, but thats not my fave

Whats going on at the King's Mill??

Maybe a merger with hovis which imo tastes shite. Still, its been this way for a while.

I live alone. It is really wasteful to have bread that only lasts 2 days before going mouldy. That’s 3/4 of a loaf being thrown out.
So I’m happy to eat plastic.

Freeze half the loaf. Or freeze the whole thing and get out what you need each day. Life is too short to est crap bread

@hotmumshit haha, I couldn't eat a whole loaf of bread in a day! It lasts for a few days and after a few days I will use it to dip in soup or makes a toasted sandwich, or do cheese on toast etc. Sometimes I slice it up and put it in the freezer, or use in a recipe that requires breadcrumbs.

To be honest, lasting as long as Kingsmill isn't really a selling point for me. Something that's supposed to be fresh only lasts so long because it's pumped full of nasty chemicals.

I would sooner have smaller amounts of something quality, but each to their own.

'I couldnt eat a whole loaf in a day'

'It lasts for a few days and after a few days I will use it to dip in soup or makes a toasted sandwich, or do cheese on toast etc'

Yeah... me neither... me too... 😬

I’m willing to bet, in the event of one of these significant disruptions the government is warning us about, that OP would be one of the first to go…

I hate it and I hate the paper packaging!!!

As for complaining, I meant just having a whinge on mumsnet really 😄

Edited

Isn’t it mad how we r all different I try to only buy bread in paper packaging as I think plastic sweats the bread n u see condensation in the bag which makes me think it’ll make it mouldy !

I miss our local Iceland - 2 minutes away and I could have a lovely bit of their thick, sliced Tiger bread - which I believe is superior to other supermarket breads. Tasted fresher too. And you could toast it - unlike those flimsy bread slices which resemble a bit of cardboard when introduced to some heat. I'd have to drive 5 miles to an Iceland now so what's the point?
Yes, we do have nice independent bakers in town, even a fancy French one with authentic baguettes but sometimes you want a slice of doughy white bread.

bababamama · Yesterday 19:21

white cut loaf all tastes of nothing anyway. Lidl wholemeal seeded is the only passable supermarket bread

momtoboys · Yesterday 19:22

What did the paper packaging ever do to you?? 😂

Two Words -

Panasonic Breadmaker .

Even my DS (who is a common as muck) will ask me "Are you doing to do an overnight loaf , mother" ?

GucciBear · Yesterday 20:45

It takes all sorts, I suppose. I would be really cross if I had to buy and eat Kingsmill {or any} white bread.

Make your own. Not difficult with the no knead method, tastes a thousand times better, and not full of preservatives/elasticizers/whatever other crap they add.

DH is upset he cannot find spring onion Golden Wonder crisps anywhere for several months! What is going on?!

Possibly a delay while they ensure production meets the new folate fortification requirement? It becomes a legal requirement from December. Idk just a theory.

All the packet breads are made in one big factory in Breadbury and put into different packets. Probably 🤔

Breadbury 😂

All that bread is rubbish anyway. But why don't you like paper packaging? What would you rather have? Bizarre post

I would rather have Kingsmill thick bread, in a plastic bag that keeps the bread fresh and soft 😍

That bread, slathered in your good Lurpak, packed with juicy bacon

🤤🤤🤤
