Why isn't HRT and menopause a regular trending topic?

I'm about to start HRT and delved into the menopause forum to get some clarity.

It occurred to me that I haven't seen a trending thread about menopause. There are tons of numbered threads about many topics. Why isnt there one about menopause? On a website which is predominantly made of of women?

Yabu: go to the graveyard of menopause on mumsnet.
Yanbu: we need a mumsnet megathread thread for menopause and peri that trends for women in their 40s+

if you look under ‘Health’, you will see that there is a dedicated Menopause topic!

ColdAsAWitches · 26/10/2026 20:11

Every thread seems to turn into an account of blaming 'peri' these days!

MassiveOvaryaction · 26/10/2026 20:11

Funny, I see menopause and HRT related posts on here most days.

Have you checked the general health and women's health boards?

LegoLivingRoom · 26/10/2026 20:13

I think you just haven’t been looking for them before. We’ve certainly had them (many started by people bemoaning the medicalisation of a ‘natural’ process).

mynameiscalypso · 26/10/2026 20:15

The one below this thread in my ‘trending’ is a menopause thread.

Great. Its not a trending topic on the homepage in trending topics.

To be clear: the homepage has a section called "trending topics".

Oh no, how dare the spectrum of women of all ages discuss on a forum their lives. This is not the thread for you.

You can’t determine what people want to read about and discuss

it might be very important to you now but that’s just you

Thepeopleversuswork · 26/10/2026 21:00

Honestly there’s roughly a thread a day about menopause. You can’t be on here that often if you haven’t seen any.

Valid topic of course but if anything it’s overdone.

I'm simply pointing out that there's lots of discussion around menopause that you seem to be missing. You seem to want dedicated threads, but it's discussed on a lot more than that.

RottenApplesSpoilTheLot · 26/10/2026 21:12

Well, all women go through it - but not all women are currently in it, so it's not necessarily of relevance to the majority of mumsnetters. I went through it 20+yrs ago, it lasted 4-5 yrs. That's only 10% of my adult life so far .........

For me, and many others, it was a minor inconvenience, night sweats were my main symptom. I have friends who had an awful time and watched my mother need a hysterectomy- but I'm not the only person in my friends group who didn't need HRT and came through it fine. It's not a major issue for everyone.

DewDropsAndCobWebs · 26/10/2026 21:14

It does pop up on trending threads sometimes, but honestly, as someone going through it, it doesn't have to be the centre of everything.

ZenNudist · 26/10/2026 21:16

There's tonnes of meno/ HRT threads. Trending is just what most people read. I wouldn't read a meno megathread

paddyoforange · 26/10/2026 21:21

HRT is great - I’m a new woman since starting it, feel young again and fitter then I’ve been in years.

OrangeFlower14 · 26/10/2026 21:23

It’s constantly on “ active” topics how could you miss it?

Scarlettpixie · 26/10/2026 21:45

Presumably they are not on trending as the posts on AIBU, Parenting, Relationships and Chat all have more traffic.

If you are interested, go and check out the board.

Normally look at 'trending' only - will check out active.

ThreeNewWords · 26/10/2026 22:03

I'm never sure what the point of the 'trending' tab is. I've never used it. Active Conversations tells you what is currently attracting attention in the site as a whole, and the topic boards tell you what is currently happening in specific areas.

I am so bored of menopause talk. It is everywhere after the usual over correction which happens on every issue now.

Ditto adhd, autism.

The downside of social media is social contagion and the world and her dog now fancies themself ill / special / different.

HoldMyWine · 27/10/2026 07:21

It is isn’t it? There is always a thread of some sort in active conversations

Don't read it then or get off the internet and read a book. We're not going to stop going on about it to please you, so you are going to be disappointed.

OP @catspyjamas1 I'm not sure you know how these boards work.
