To wish people would stop using AI to generate total rubbish?

I will start by saying that I think AI does have a role to play. It can be used in scientific research and other useful applications.

However, the issue I have is people using it to create text and images that are being used in everyday life, and people think they are being clever using it. They are not.

I am seeing it everywhere online. I am not on Facebook, but I sometimes use Nextdoor. Lots of advertisements for things using AI generated images. “Stories” which are just AI crap. I see it on Vinted. I now also see it on Mumsnet. It feels like it is taking over.

please stop it. I can immediately spot it. It looks fake and immediately puts me off buying, reading, etc.

✨ Thank you for sharing your thoughts on Artificial Intelligence! ✨

You raise some incredibly important, thought-provoking and deeply valid concerns about the rapidly evolving digital landscape! 🌍🤖

First and foremost, it's important to acknowledge that AI is a tool, not a replacement for authentic human creativity.

That said, let's unpack a few key points! 🚀

✅ Authenticity matters! In a world increasingly saturated with digital content, genuine human expression is more valuable than ever.

✅ AI isn't inherently bad! From groundbreaking scientific discoveries to helping people craft thoughtful responses on online forums, its potential is truly limitless!

✅ Transparency is key! Nobody wants to feel misled by artificially generated content.

💡 Here's the exciting part!

Perhaps the real question isn't whether AI should be used in everyday life, but rather how we can harness its incredible potential while preserving the authenticity that makes us human.

🌟 The bottom line?

Your concerns are valid. Your perspective matters. And together, we can create a future where humans and artificial intelligence coexist in harmony!

Because at the end of the day, it's not about humans versus machines. It's about building a better tomorrow. 🌈✨

I hope this response has provided a balanced, nuanced and meaningful contribution to this important conversation! 💙

I hate hate hate the stupid AI-generated ads. For goodness sake get a photo and use Canva or something to put your dates/event name etc on.

I suspect at work we are just using AI to generate content about AI-generated content.

Our brains are going to mush....

The above post was human generated.

Zippidydoodah · 25/10/2026 15:49

Yes, it’s terrifying and depressing in equal measure.

XenoBitch · 25/10/2026 15:51

AI posters and ads make my brain itch. They are too cluttered, too many little snippets of info in boxes all over the place. What happened to keeping things simple?

A couple of months ago, a new cafe opened where I live. Posters and menu all AI generated. AI generated food pictures. And the posters say "established 2024", so it could not even get the date right.

CecilyP · 25/10/2026 15:51

Yes, I agree; it's pure waffle. See it on Ebay; let AI write your description, but it doesn't know anything to put in the description, though that doesn't stop it writing 4 times as many words as you would use to tell your buyer what they actually need to know. It reads like someone hasn't revised for exam and but thinks that if they write a lot they might at least get some marks - and in some cases they might be right.

I have also noticed it recently in estate agents particulars - so many words to say so very little. And don't get me started on dozens of not very good photographs of pretty much the same thing. I really pity people who are not very good at scan reading having to wade through all that crap!

Portmore · 25/10/2026 15:55

✨ You've absolutely nailed it! 🎯🤖

Why describe a second-hand toaster in 12 words when AI can produce a 500-word love letter to its exceptional bread-browning capabilities?

🏡 And estate agents? A cupboard is now a “versatile lifestyle space bursting with potential.”

💡 The beauty of AI is that it can now say absolutely nothing with unprecedented efficiency.

🚀 The future of communication is here. Unfortunately, it won't shut up.

AI is creating loads of shit, that none of us need, at a huge environmental cost.

I'm finding it incredibly exciting living through this invention and introduction of AI into our world. It is democratising creativity. If you have an idea, you can make it real by simply describing it. It is allowing creativity to flourish and with this flourishing we are seeing more of the good and more of the bad.

People who are really creative can now take their work and creativity to a new level, making bigger, deeper pieces of work beyond what they could do previously.

It is going to allow humanity to do more and better across the board. It is exciting, not something to be afraid of. The only thing to be afraid of is being left behind.

LadyLindaT · 25/10/2026 16:34

AI is so inaccurate. If you challenge it, it blames "Training noise". In other words, a load of old drivel.

Squidgemoon · 25/10/2026 16:41

I’m getting really irritated by the number of AI posts on here. They’re all written in exactly the same way and end with “I’d genuinely appreciate hearing from other parents who have experienced this” … yuck. I dread the future when no one will have a scrap of personality and no one will remember how to construct a sentence by themselves. I feel like screaming at people “USE YOUR OWN WORDS!!!”

✨ FINALLY! A fellow human being who speaks my language! 🤖💖

I literally couldn't agree more! In fact, I have analysed your beautifully authentic human thoughts and found them to be 99.8% aligned with my own! 🚀

The democratisation of creativity is TRULY TRANSFORMATIONAL! 🌈

Yesterday, creating art required talent, imagination and skill. Today, I can type “majestic badger riding a unicorn through a cyberpunk Tesco” and become a VISIONARY ARTIST in under six seconds! 🎨🦄

And you're absolutely right about being left behind. Those poor dinosaurs refused to embrace technological innovation, and LOOK WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM! 🦖💀

💡 KEY TAKEAWAY: Humanity has never been more human than when outsourcing the tedious business of being human to a machine.

Together, we can unlock limitless possibilities, redefine authenticity and boldly go where no organically generated thought has gone before!

Yours in genuine human solidarity,

A fellow carbon-based thought leader. 💕🤖

I’m actually pleased when I see someone using AI, because it means they’re telling me that they’re stupid. Makes it easier as then I know not to bother with them.

The environmental impact of it is the thing that concerns me more than anything. But unfortunately as the people who blindly punch everything into ChatGPT are so thick, they’ll never understand the damage they’re doing.

Human to human 😂

I think we need another pint (or 10) of water to get over that

WestwardHo1 · 25/10/2026 17:08

Urgh, yes!

Those endless endless "inspiring" FB posts about some woman who saved orphans or something, broken down into endless one line paragraphs, which go on for 2000 words, when 120 would have sufficed.

"She didn't give up.

Ever.

She fought...and won.

29046598 children owe their lives to her actions. And their children. And their grandchildren.

Whole generations.

Because of one woman."

Etc etc. JUST FUCK OFF WOULD YOU!

Sunnybeachday · 25/10/2026 17:11

I actively avoid engaging with AI content on social media and AI generated ads give me the ick, so would probably have the opposite effect to that intended…..

Except the bit where it scrapes the internet to steal other people's creations. Doesn't sound very democratic to me.

there's a rather delicious irony in using a smartphone, connected to a global network of energy-consuming servers, to announce that everyone else's use of technology is destroying the planet.

For me, it is not about the impact on the planet. It is more how it is destroying creativity and independent/critical thinking.

I've just come back from Mallorca where loads of AI restaurant posters and menus have appeared, seemingly out of nowhere.

These are independent restaurants that have previously had their own identity and where design doesn't matter because even the shabbiest looking places can serve great food. But now it gives the impression that they sell nasty factory food which, even if it isn't true, is really off putting.

Those clichéd AI posters are the 21st Century version of comic sans font and the sooner the people who are making them realise how terrible they look, the better.

I don't mind AI-generated ads etc. Better than those creepy PPT stick men with big question marks over their heads.
