Ive had some news that has really unsettled me, without going into any outing details.
I always wanted another child but couldn't cope with pregnancy I nearly died last time at 21 weeks pregnant and had a still born. I'm fuming today and without going into why... I just need to remember why it's good not to have another baby right now 😂

Please help my brain switch off.

i'm sorry OP, how many children do you have?

Laura9899 · 21/10/2026 19:22

sleep, glorious endless, undisturbed sleep.

fuckeditupbadly · 21/10/2026 19:49

Im sorry for your situation. If it helps; freedom to entirely share your life and spend your time how you want. Not having to allocate 95% of your salary to someone else's needs and wants. Being able to take off for random weekends and take holidays in term time.

iloveanearlynight · 21/10/2026 19:54

The planet doesn't need more people. Environmentally we're absolutely screwed. The future looks so uncertain and difficult. Housing, climate, water availability, education, health, overpopulation, pressure from immigration, war, violence, mental health...don't subject your precious future children to that.

Absolutely this. x1000

Peonies12 · 21/10/2026 19:58

All the sleep. Freedom. More choices. Spontaneity. But I am very sad for your loss also.

NobodyEvenCares · 21/10/2026 20:00

My teens were out this afternoon so we had a lovely leisurely afternoon in bed together.

You don’t get that with babies and toddlers running about and being snotty and the smell of nappy bins and toys everywhere in your eyeline.

pawpatrolpow · 21/10/2026 20:02

They don’t stay babies for long and grown men who can’t move out are not that easy to live with.

FunnyOrca · 21/10/2026 20:02

Sleep! Think of those newborn nights and remember you will never have to do them again!

Think of the freedom.

Think of how your body has healed and how it can keep healing and you can take care of it.

CrazyMidget · 21/10/2026 20:06

I wonder if someone close to you is unexpectedly pregnant.

Why it’s good not to have another baby? Countless reasons! Far less work and worry and expense. Can retire earlier. Have more holidays. And yet you’re still a mum as you have at least one child. Win-win, imo!

@T1MumOf1 so many reasons. My sister had a second and of course she loves him but honestly, she absolutely hates her day to day life. It’s chaos with two and utterly completely draining a lot of the time.

JustNodSmileAgree · 22/10/2026 01:29

6570 dinners you HAVE to cook until they are 18, minus the odd takeaway and holiday eat-outs.

I swear I’ll never cook again when they move out!

Specialneedsnightmare · 22/10/2026 01:36

Honestly, is there any good reason to have children now? The planet is in a dire state. There's every reason to find positives to not having them imo.

GreengrocersApostrophe · 22/10/2026 01:52

It would give you more time to heal. On your own terms.

InNewYorkNoShoes · 22/10/2026 04:29

Piles.
Saggier boobs.
A bit of pee coming out when you laugh (but you won’t laugh as much because you are tired and grumpy)

Yello24 · 22/10/2026 04:38

Because it’s very risky as you don’t know who you’re going to get and feel responsible for all your life. See the threads from those with teenagers they want to put into care as they just can’t cope any more.

Iocanepowder · 22/10/2026 04:40

Hey op, i’m up at 4.39am because of my 2 year old. She is nearly 3 and has been a shit sleeper since she was born.

I have 2 kids and I feel like life is just trying to survive and catch up with things. I feel like a failure in everything and life isn’t enjoyable anymore.

Also this. My hair is nowhere near recovered from 2 rounds of postpartum hairloss and my youngest is nearly 3.
