Nicola Peltz is entitled to call herself Nicola Beckham

I’ve just seen that Victoria Beckham was furious when Nicola Peltz Beckham was introduced at the Venice Film Festival as Nicola Beckham, but surely that’s unreasonable? She’s entitled to use her married name, isn’t she?

What about when they introduce what’s his name, Brooklyn as Brooklyn Peltz. So Nicola Beckham and Brooklyn Peltz. They are using both their surnames anyway, aren’t they?

Does seem hypocritical to assume a name that represents everything her husband claims to be rejecting, though? I’d have expected him to have assumed her name, tbh.

But she’s perfectly entitled to take his name if that’s what they’ve decided to do as a couple. I suspect there are bigger issues in that family dynamic than name choice, though.

But they both adopted ‘Peltz Beckham’ as their surnames after their marriage, didn’t they? So, he is a Peltz too, and she is a Beckham too. Adopted before any of these latest shenanigans.

No doubt the publicist was furious on behalf of Victoria who was furious she hadnt had advanced notice so she could get a campaign going about just how furious she is

Was it Kylie Jenner who wanted to trademark ’Kylie’ but Kylie Minogue kicked up a (fairly minor) stink and told her not to be ridiculous given Kylie was a somewhat popular name? There are surely more Beckhams in the world so Victoria will not be successful trying to limit who can use the name, particularly when her son has married and legally his wife can use his name like any other wife (or husband, looking at a mate who took his husband’s surname).

You can yourself anything you like as long as it’s not for fraudulent reasons or offensive.

It's interesting how two people's perception can differ so widely. I thought it was pretty funny. Doesn't smack of jealousy to me.

If you're asking whether I sit and gossip about the women at the parties I attend, no I don't.

That's obviously your idea of 'having a laugh' but we're not all like that.

I'm not so sure.

I can 100% believe they leak stuff. Including stuff about how sad they are about the situation, etc. But I would genuinely think they would keep anything which has the faintest chance of painting them in a negative light out of the media. And they must know that such a story is "anti Beckham", people would think they were being unreasonable.

So either Heat magazine has made the whole thing up. Or possibly Brooklyn and Nicola have made it up and told the press because they want to paint V and D in a bad light while also keeping their profile up.

I hear that for all Brooklyn's protestations about wanting to keep stuff out the media he is just as good as his parents about leaking stuff to them and tipping paps off. Which is why you get photos of them taking the dogs to the groomers, etc. There is no pap just hanging round a random dog grooming place on the off chance that someone famous may bring their dog in.

If she is in fact "furious' it's not your average MIL having a wobbly. It's all tied into the trademarks and all that jazz. The kids' ones expire later this year and she won't want Brooklyn opening restaurants called Beckham's with Nicola's family money for example.

I don’t know whether VB manufactures publicity or not. But I wouldn’t be at all surprised to hear she briefs the tabloids. There has been so much stuff posted about Brooklyn and Nicola that must have come from somewhere. Which is why he has felt he needed to respond, rightly or wrongly.

Let’s face it a lot of their income has come from their brand, particularly hers because she isn’t really a talented singer and mostly her design company has lost money. Nothing wrong with making the most of what you have but using your children is a step too far.

You don’t hear endless negative (or even positive) stories about the other Spice Girls’ children. In fact I wouldn’t know anything about them at all. In fact I’d say that about many celebrities’ children. And yet I know a lot about the Beckham’s children. I’d hate that for my kids. I don’t want the world to know about when they got drunk and threw up. Or when they got dumped by their girlfriends. Or when they couldn’t get a job.

My friends and family know about my kids but they won’t use that info against them. It won’t get in the way of them living their lives and getting work.

They’ve set up their kids to expect a certain lifestyle, to not have inner resilience to fall back on, to live in the public eye and monetise their private lives. And then they brief against Brooklyn for doing exactly that. I find that a bit sickening really.

After the gossip horror show that helped drive Caroline Flack to an early death many hairdressers stopped stocking such horrible magazines and rightly so. I'd change hairdressers!

No I didn’t ask that. My reference to enduring your company at a party was in reference to your officious seniority above those who wish to discuss a topic that doesn’t interest you.

Also, not sure what your experience of the media industry is, but curated stories like the one mentioned in OP make serious money for all involved, including the ‘Gosipees’. You should maybe educate yourself a little before you flex your moral superiority over us peasants.
