Are you someone who, when walking in a group, spreads across the whole pavement and when someone comes in the other direction just look blank and stupid like annoyed cattle that you have to move aside a bit

Is it because your brain switches off in a group environment or are you always like this?

If any consolation it also happens to my 6ft+ DH

And he feels he can't be assertive about it the way I can because a cross mid sized lady is experienced as less threatening than a cross big man

If i saw 5 people abreast i would stop at the side of the pavement and let them past. No need to go in the road

Maybe we should bow and scrape as the five people go past, maybe lay our coats in front of them?

@Tootsurly I also get this! I have noticed recently that people seem to veer into my path far more often that they used to. It's bizarre - if they just carried straight on we'd pass easily. But they look up, see me, and....start to walk towards me, which means I have to stop. WHY?!
Don't get me started on the people that try to squeeze between me and my front door as I'm unlocking it.
