To want to quit my job over this?

I’m being as vague as possible.

I have taken on a role in a certain team. A colleague was (apparently) promised this role if they didn’t get a promotion. This role was promised to them long before I joined the company.

Said person hasn’t got the promotion and there’s now a lot of conflict about whether they’ll be taking the role or not. The person is making it clear to everyone in the office that they’re angry, they won’t work with me, won’t come in if I’m in the office etc.

I just want to leave. I love my job but not all this shit. I am fed up and feel like crying everyday because I’m being treated awfully for something I wasn’t involved in.

That's what they want, they want you to be upset and leave.
Really it depends if you want them to win or not. I would go to your manager and tell them what has happened and that the colleague that has the problem is absentee when you are in the office- no company wants to pay for an employee who doesn't turn up- that should sort it.

@icanfeelitallover Do not threaten your employer with you going sick. It’s just not professional or acceptable. It smacks of blackmail. You won’t be taken seriously if you do this. You need to keep any discussion firmly about the other employee and what they are doing. You can say it’s making your job untenable and very difficult. You can say it’s frustrating and is leading to office tensions. You can say it’s upsetting but don’t threaten your employers. You will look just as bad.

im just tired of it. Im working so hard to be faced by this

Yes document it and allow the accumulating evidence to give you courage. Tell yourself that you will present it at an appropriate time to the right people . Think of each hostility as the thing you will write down and that way it can go over your head. This perdon is being very silly..

I’ve never said I will threaten that?

I do feel like going off sick though. It’s so draining. I feel physically unwell with it.

I assume this post may have been prompted by @Hatty65's post.
