Absolute life goals.

Waiting for a parking space. Car turns up.

They then attempt to steal the space.

I say absolutely fucking not!

I was willing to write all our cars off in this pursuit of justice.

And I won. Got the space.

Heart pounding but righteous goals. Order in life is restored.

Then I enter cafe…
Man follows in…

I say ‘well that was rude’.
He said I thought the same.

I thought that was the end of it. Nope. Wife who decided to get out the car and leave the illegal manoeuvre to her husband decided to start chiming in justifying their actions. Absolute proof they knew what they were doing.

Small showdown occurs at cafe counter.

Have they no shame to broadcast their gall to the caf’ 🤣

Anyway, thank you for listening. Who else is winning today?

Why do people behave like this once they get behind the wheel of a car. It’s insanity.

And then start on the man in the cafe! 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈

OP enjoy your ‘victory’ - I’m mortified for you

TheDivergentEnigma · 08/10/2026 17:58

Dropping my daughter off at school. Opposite the gates is a T-junction with yellow lines around the corners.

As I walked down the path to the school, a chap was looking up at the junction. I turned round and saw a bus trying to turn into the junction, getting very close to a car parked right on the corner, on double yellow lines.

The chap saw me look and said, 'It's going to hit the car'

I replied, 'Good, it'll teach the bloody idiot not to park illegally '

The chap looked back at me, rather sheepishly, got his keys out and went and moved the car.

I couldn't help but laugh; I didn't know it was his; I honestly thought he was thinking the same as me, and yet he was the bloody idiot!

I was quite scolding when I said it too.

I was almost killed by a Dutch driver in an underground car park in Bilbao.
We had been round and round umpteen times when I spotted a space, jumped out and stood in it. DH was due to be there on the next circuit.
A Dutch person decided it was his and reversed back and into 'my' space.
I thought he would stop. He clearly wasn't taking prisoners so I had to give in

People who stand in parking spots to ‘bagsy’ are utter dicks. I’m so stubborn I’d die pulled halfway to that spot rather than let you have it!

So you were willing to damage other people's cars to achieve your victory over the cf?Hmm

I suspect that was tongue in cheek…

Oh yes I am sure it was a beauty to watch!

To PP re. Dignity in the caf’

There was no way you could not acknowledge the incident which had just happened. So I attempted to keep it brief. I think he and I were on the same page here. It was a battle, and he was a chancer, and he lost. He knew all of that. Unfortunately the wife had other plans. Having not seen how badly they lost the battle. Blurting her excuses and justifications.

Culminating in…
Me - ‘Look I dont have time for this - I am just here for a coffee’
Her - ‘WELL I AM HERE FIRST’

Yes you are love… glad you understand the concept.

And I did just allow her to have the last word. Because it was quite a funny ending.

Obviously I apologised to the cafe lady when she delivered the drinks. She was very nice.

You can only reserve a space with a CAR! I’d have run you over too.

Included flattened figures in that diagram then!

It must be difficult being unable to recognise humour. Do you really think the op was willing to write off any of the cars involved?!! Seriously?!

No difficulty on my part, thanks.

He did!

I didn’t see it. Probably because he was blocking my view of it.

He clearly knew it was there which makes the whole thing more bizarre.

Was it my dh's boss? He's Dutch, a real prick and wouldn't care if he killed someone. Does it slowly at work every day.

I was, It would have been impossible to write off our cars at 0.005 miles an hour.

But I was willing to scratch that side absolutely. We were keyed a few years back and that side needs re spraying anyway so I was 100% willing to commit.

Thankfully my driving skills are pretty good and he sensed the commitment. But there were inches in it. It really was a full on car fight!

I felt this was a battle I must win for everyone he’s done this to before. And for myself - for the previous times I wasn’t committing to trashing my car and the fucker won!

Too the party poopers - may my pride beam down on you 😂😂😂

Edited

God.. can we stop with the myself yourself nonsense. It’s ‘and for me’

Good. You can't reserve spaces by standing there! That's hilarious. Do you also sit at tables in crammed McDonalds when there's people leaving the queue with a tray of food and your husband has only just joined the back of the queue? People there at the time take priority.

WINNNEERR · 08/10/2026 19:36

Some of you are really trying to kill my vibe about this! When I first started the thread I thought that might work. But nope; still buzzing. I think this high is going to take me through to next week.

But you’re making me worried about you all! Whats happened? Why are so many so sad today?

Well I am giving you all flowers anyway 🌷I wish you all joyful and dickhead free days.

Unless your a parking space stealer - in which case I curse you to arrive to full carparks for eternity.

How do you know he was Dutch? Was he wearing clogs and smelled of Edam cheese?

So because people aren’t congratulating you for being prepared to damage your and his car and then to make a snarky comment in the cafe (which could absolutely be avoided), people are miserable?

You made a bit of an arse of yourself, as did they. Nobody comes out of it well.

It probably gave people a laugh but not for the reason you think.

It’s not working. I am gleeful. That’s the point of the thread. To share my joy at my achievement.

I don’t mind people not congratulating. Tbh for most it would be pretty nightmarish situation. It’s practically blood boiling when you have the misfortune of happening across such people in life.

But to try to tear down someone’s happiness at standing up for themselves to a bully. That’s sad. That’s not really about me is it.
