Is the "Omnicause" real?

TooBigForMyBoots · 24/09/2026 22:56

I've noticed an increase of this term across Mnet recently.

Am I the only one who thinks it's a form of "forced teaming"? A nonsense buzzword used by internet culture warriors to sow division? A bogeyman like the Illuminati in the 2010s?

Or is it a real thing?

Several people have mentioned a right wing equivalent or parallel to the omnicause. Can anyone elaborate? Im not saying there isn't one, but I can't think of a good example.

Edited

Tougher CJS, cutting welfare, cutting taxes, homogeneity over diversity, promotion of 'traditional British culture'.

TooBigForMyBoots · 28/09/2026 15:53

I've seen Omnihate used.

It's a catchy name for a right wing equivalent if it exists - but does it? What are the parallel examples? I don't see RW groups policing the views of their supporters in the same way, but maybe I don't move in the right circles.

So I guess the difference of opinion here is that I see the conformity and policing of opinions as a key element of the omnicause that isn't mirrored in right wing equivalents, so for me just a list of stereotypical RW views doesn't seem to fit. But I'm not the keeper of the omnicause definition so you could be right.

That kind of tells its own story doesn't it? Omnicause is mocking but Omnihate is nasty.

FlorenceLawrence · 28/09/2026 16:23

I haven't seen the same thing in RW/MAGA circles, but maybe it's because I don't generally move in those circles?
Do, say, Matt Walsh/Ben Shapiro types viciously cancel & ostracise their RW mates that don't agree with them on every single topic?
I see a lot of the Free Speech types asking for discussion, rather than cancellation, having open mic events with students/left wingers. Whereas I see the ultra left wingers trying to shut down discussion: "No Debate" etc. I think that's the difference.

TooBigForMyBoots · 28/09/2026 16:38

DoctorDr · 28/09/2026 10:59

Oops, yes you're right

Pro-choice is part of the Omnicause then? I thought it was a basic right for women to have autonomy over their own bodies.

MAGA definitely ostracise people, Ben Shapiro has been a victim of it.

Interesting points you make. I don’t think I’ll ever vote anything but Labour but I too admire Kemi’s high standards and ability to communicate them. It’s interesting too that the Conservative Party has won hands down in terms of diversity in its leadership. I won’t vote for her but her job as opposition is part of our government process and I appreciate her. As for the Greens, if baseball caps weren’t such an abomination, I would have one with Make The Greens Green Again because that’s what they should do and use their parliamentary position to push for Green Policies.

I think you are misunderstanding this.

No one is saying Omnicause causes are necessarily bad, or that people can't support them. Omnicause describes how these individual causes are for a certain political set becoming grouped together into one thing.

There are plenty of people who give others a very hard time if they offer more liberal opinions on those issues. People speaking up for asylum seekers, benefit claimants, for rehabilitation rather than revenge based approach to justice, are often very swiftly shamed for not caring about women and girls/hard working tax payers/victims of crime. Exactly the same behaviour. On here at least.
Not sure how this translates to real life, because I've never tried to be approved of by 'the right', so don't know whether I'd be ostracised. However I've never been ostracised by a left wing person for saying something they disagreed with either.

I'd broadly characterise it as

OmniRight "if you don't agree with us then you don't care about your own people"
OmniLeft "if you don't agree with us then you must hate different people"

Yes but not having the correct opinion on the Left comes with real social and career consequences

Rosie Dufield -Labour MP wasn’t invited to the party conference because it made people feel ‘unsafe’ because of her views on trans/women’s rights

Julie Bindel was banned from holding a public event at a Nottingham council library for having’transphobic’ Views, she was also no platformed at Manchester University.

J.K.Rowling faced daily death threats and a pipe bomb threat, cancellations and book burnings.

Professor Jo Phoenix was cancelled at Sussex University for‘transphobia’ she later sued them.

Professor Kathleen Stock was pressured out of the University of Sussex due to a campaign by student activists because of gender critical beliefs.

Graham Linehan was arrested at Heathrow by 6 armed police on the allegations from a trans activist.

Marrion Miller -Left wing Scottish feminist -arrested and charged under the Communications Act for a tweet

Kate Skottow -left leaning feminist arrested for misgendering

Jennifer Swayne - arrested for putting up stickers

There are lots more but once you step outside the correct thinking’ you get targeted by the Left.

May I, in the interests of accuracy, correct that to "not having the the 'correct' opinion with regards to transgender ideology as some heads of institutions and political activists has led to real social and career consequences"?
Because with the exception of the case of Rosie Duffield who was treated appallingly within the Labour Party, all of those women suffered consequences at the hands of the police under the oversight of the Conservative government, TRAs or universities.
The Conservative government who stood by and watched these massive oversteps by the police (just as for 14 years they stood by and allowed institutions under their direct control such as prisons and the NHS to remove rights to single sex provision) are not 'the left' are they?
TRA and militant student 'allies' may align with the left, but they do not represent it.
So while I take your point that women have suffered significantly for holding GC views, it doesn't serve an argument that 'the left' ostracise people who disagree with them. Only that TRAs and their allies, and institutions the government turned a blind eye to have ostracised (and worse) those who disagreed with them.

Tory MP Crispin Blunt was right fucker to GC women and MPs. He reported numerous women to the police and their employers. IIRC, on at least one occasion it was for the heinous crime of retweeting JKR.😱

Don't even get me started on PMs Cameron, May, Johnson and Truss. Or the rest of the Tory shower of shit that were responsible for the trans shitshow and Stonewalling our institutions.🙄

I'm so glad and grateful the tide has turned.🙏

Thank you. So tired of the erosion of women's rights being linked to the left by people who don't understand the difference between being socially and economically left wing and extreme liberal 'progressives'.
The willful disregard of the fact that while those shouting loudest for TI may have identified as left, those who let them enact their demands, who oversaw the harm to women, were the Conservative government.
For fourteen years the Tories let this embed on their watch and their supporters have the gall to blame it on 'the left'.

The Wake-up moment for me was when a poster said the couldn't vote for Corbyn because a woman was raped by a man transwoman in hospital and the case dismissed by the police. WTAF?🤯

Then the penny dropped.

A woman had been raped on a hospital ward. A place she should have felt safe to rest and heal. It didn't happen because of JC. Who has never been PM. It happened a decade, give or take a year, into the UK under a Tory government.

I worked back from that and was shocked.

Miller's work for PM Cameron. PM May's announcement of Self ID. Successive GI believers appointed to Education Secretary. PM Truss reducing the cost of a GRC to £5. A fiver! The world's first trans MP. Another Tory. Who was appointed to the Women's and Equalities Committee by Tory colleagues. Despite being under investigation for numerous offences. Crispin fucking Blunt.😖

Turns out the trans shitshow in the UK happened under and because the Conservative Party.

I am glad the Tory trans shit is being reversed.

I am grateful to JKR and left wing GC feminists for fighting the fight and winning it for women.

Yes grateful here too.
And angry at the way men on the right have piggy backed onto their work to use sex realism as a way in to platform their own harmful agenda. Forcing themselves on feminist events, bringing their regressive sexism and racism as a package deal. Weaponising TI to discredit the left.
And with their enablers who tell us to look the other way when they want to remove our bodily autonomy and send us back to the kitchen because 'at least they know what a woman is'.
During the Makerfield election we had a male right wing poster lecture women against Burnham because six years previously he'd (stupidly) said in the context of being largely supportive of SSS, that he thought the majority of women wouldn't mind trans identified 'biological men' (..his words. hardly those of an ally) in their toilets. This poster was urging instead women support the misogynist Reform candidate, who, you've guessed...'knows what a woman is'. Which tbf he did. It was 'tits and ass' if I recall.

Arguing that the right are more responsible for gender ideology and the erosion of women's rights than the left, based on a handful of pro GI Tory MPs is like arguing that climate change isn't real based on a handful of chilly days.

In the UK and globally, pro GI opinions and policies are held far more widely on the left than the right.

The views people hold are of far less importance than the power they have to impose them on others. A bunch of activists shouting on behalf of a tiny population would have no more power than any other supporters of a niche cause if the governing bodies hadn't listened and enacted their demands. The Conservative government allowed TI to embed in our schools, the NHS, the CJS. They took what should have been preposterous demands and made them reality. Why did they do that? Agreement with TI? A weakness and lack of control that suggests they were unfit to govern? Or their usual prioritisation of men over women, of the few over the many?

The conservatives did next to nothing regarding gender ideology because governments don't micro manage the kinds of institutions and businesses where it took hold. In comparable nations in the same time period, governments were actively passing legislation to further embed GI in law, e.g. self ID, whereas ours blocked it in Scotland.

And I am not saying GI is an inherently left wing idea, I think its just a daft idea that for various reasons, the left is more susceptible than the right.

GI was more readily embraced by some left wing people. Just like anti abortion and traditional sex based roles for women are pushed by some on the right. These views are not the defining characteristic of either political persuasion.

I've been reading up on the "omnicause" - wow it sounds very dangerous, and it's everywhere, according to the Washington Examiner:

"The leftist ‘Omnicause’ lies to us every day

Destructive wildfires in Europe and the suicide of a black professor are closely linked, even though they seem utterly unconnected. The tissue that joins these unhappy events is an activist matrix sometimes referred to as the “omnicause.”

The omnicause, a name coined in 2023, is the protean blob of leftism that engulfs whatever it touches and lets its leaders turn their vast flock of sheeplike protesters from one direction to another whenever their political agenda makes it expedient to do so.

It doesn’t matter whether the latest need is to obstruct Immigration and Customs Enforcement, to demand that there be “No Kings,” as though America were genuinely in danger of restoring monarchy, or to rally demonstrators against all billionaires except the ones who finance the leftist demos."

Wake up sheeple! Those leftist billionaires are controlling them as vast flocks in the activist matrix. Matrix, I've seen that film, thank God I took the blue pill, or was it the red... surely not the red one that'd make you a Marxist.... anyway I (we) are obviously intelligent enough to see how they, the flocks, are being herded. But where are these dark forces going with their evil plan?

"While the Earth’s atmosphere has warmed a little in the past 250 years, it is not a calamity, yet it has distorted policy, which has in turn cost trillions of dollars in lost productivity and wealth creation and perpetuated miserable living conditions in undeveloped parts of the world."

The bastards! They've lied to us about climate change! Lefties costing us trillions and perpetuating world wide poverty. Funded by antisemitic leftist billionaires, like that Facebook chap Zuckerberk, or George Soros (remember what he did to the pound, forcing us out of what was it? erm... forget the details... nevermind.. some fiendish foreign conspiracy against our mortgage rates). It's all related in their massive worldwide matrix of conspiracy. Join the dots, and read the full article at:

[irony: a figure of speech in which the intended meaning is the opposite of that expressed by the words used; usually taking the form of sarcasm or ridicule in which laudatory expressions are used to imply condemnation or contempt]

The “omnicause” links climate alarmism, antisemitism, and institutional failures by subordinating truth to left-wing ideological conformity.

So you weren't arguing that the right were more responsible than the left for the GI when you said...

"Turns out the trans shitshow in the UK happened under and because the Conservative Party.
I am glad the Tory trans shit is being reversed."

And who are the successive Tory Prime Ministers who were pro-gender ideology?

May bought into it at its peak certainly, and toyed with self ID but the only thing she actually changed was to make GRCs cheaper. Johnson and Sunak were broadly against as far as I can tell and Badenoch as leader is strongly GC.

I am not a Tory, but you have to apply some serious spin to say the gains of trans ideology in the uk were down to the conservatives, when the labour shadow cabinet were at almost every stage far more pro GI, and had they been in power, things would have been way worse (in that single respect).
