To find make-up weird

I kind of get foundation because it can cover spots, blotches and blemishes. But to “enhance” perfectly good eyes with black lines and smudges (eyeshadow) and to colour in your lips - I don’t know, isn’t it all a bit odd when you think about it? (Most) men don’t wear it so why do women? Just a thought! 🤣

I think social rules and cues are weird. Who made up these rules? Why do we all have to stick to them? Why can’t we make other rules? Weird!

Eyes with makeup do look more beautiful!

But that is what people do look like! Skin is skin coloured, eyes open the perfect amount to allow vision and lips are pretty much skin coloured. Its a feature not a bug. Makeup just makes us a bit...dirtier.

If nobody ever wore makeup or did their hair and only dressed for practicality, we'd all swoon at the first sight of someone with eyeliner, plaits and a swishy outfit. I mean, that must have happened at some point in history, mustn't it?!

I love make up and there's no denying people look better with it, unless, of course they are useless at applying it.

Money is weird, exchange rates i can't get my head round.
But if you think of money as a unit of labour it kind of makes sense.

Any equipment is the same as the diamond, your paying the time to mine the materials, and someone to process them to make the equipment and transport it.

That man is absolutely beautiful, with or without eye makeup. He’s literally perfect. No need whatsoever to have put lines around his eyes.

Erm, no. No, it's not. My attention was drawn to his eyes because people naturally look at others' eyes, and they were also a focus of the close-up picture.

Additionally, given as I am neither blind, nor colourblind, I'm fairly certain I would've been able to notice his eyes being strikingly green whether or not he was wearing make-up.

I have a male family member with similar very true green irises, and his eyes look stunning and are always commented on...despite him never wearing any form of make-up.

The colour of is eyes are what draws me in.

I don't care if he wears make up or not. No one needs to wear anything to look "more beautiful". Why should anyone strive to be "more beautiful"?

I've worn it twice this year, it has it's place.

I've honestly never seen anyone I thought looked better with make-up on in person. I just prefer a person's actual face to a painted mask, and it's always obvious in person.

That's not to say make-up can't look very artistic and cool, especially when it's bold and editorial, but I certainly don't think it makes a person look better, just different.

And considering women usually wear make-up while men don't, it's sad that so many women think that women's faces are lacking and less attractive without being painted by expensive products, while men apparently look fine either way.

not pish at all. I know loads of men in the alt scene who wear make up daily. actors and musicians and anyone on tv or stage wear it. One of my sons and his friends who are just normal lads wear it if they have a break out, some of them wear eyeliner. skin care and make up are popular in the fandom of kpop acts and such like.

I wear mascara and like how it enhances the eyes. I hate foundation. I don't think I've ever seen anyone wearing it and thought it looked nice. It makes lines and imperfections more pronounced, showes up slight hair and generally makes people look less attractive.

Ive never understood why people are so vehemently against makeup. Is it bevause they dont know how to apply it or something?

Personally I'm not against make-up itself, but I am against the societal attitude that women look worse without it, need it, and should wear it if they want to look good. It's a misogynistic, silly, entirely subjective viewpoint, which plays into the idea that women 'should' be, and should want to be, ornamental objects instead of active subjects.

I think what that poster means is not people who chose to not wear it themselves/have no interest in it (which is of course totally fine) but those who seem to almost look down on those who do wear it. I have a friend who continually calls wearing make up ‘vain’ and ‘self involved’ and is very rude about it. Im
not vain or self involved, i’m very much the opposite and quite insecure about my skin, if i was vain i’d think i look great without the help of make up surely? hiding my insecurities with paint is not vanity.
