AIBU to use my tumble dryer for all washing now?

I bought a new tumble dryer on Sat after using a really rubbish one for a few years. It didn't work well and I ended up with laundry on clothes horses all over my flat. Even with a decent dehumidifier running 24/7 it led to mould in some places.

Finally decided I'd had enough when it took 7+ days to get a pillow dry and ordered a condenser tumble dryer. It's amazing and gets stuff dry in no time at all. My laundry also doesn't smell faintly musty any more.

I can technically hang washing out but the washing line is by the bins and there's rats in the courtyard too.

Aibu to ditch the clothes horses and just use my tumble dryer exclusively? It'll be about three loads a week including bedding.

I have two heat pump dryers in the utility room and use them year-round because I don't like leaving my clothing outside.

Go for it OP, I don't blame you at all.I had a washer dryer which was useless, so when it broke I bought a washer, but don't have the space for a tumble dryer.
I wish I did, as my towels are so rough and stiff.
It must save time not hanging outside.

I use a retractable washing line in my stairwell in my home which has a huge high ceiling. The heat rises so washing dries fairly fast. It's off the ground so doesn't get in the way.

Personally I use a heated airer and dehumidifier in the winter for the day and then just chuck most of it in the tumble to finish it off at the end of the day. Time consuming but I worry about the tumble drying wrecking the clothes!

It's very strange! Everyone acting like it's a new miracle machine? Whatever is next? Refrigeration to keep food fresh? An electric sweeper to clean your carpets? A vehicle that isn't a cart and horse?😱

I moved house years ago and we’ve never had a washing line at this house; I tumble dry everything.

I use mine year round, and I do lots of laundry, 10 loads a week on average. Children, pets, school/work uniforms ect. Everything that is tumble dryer safe go's into it. On my second load today.

Mine works great but unfortunately, it shrinks clothes after a few uses, even the cotton ones. After years of tumble drying everything I’ve started to hang dry all my nicer items because I got fed up of things shrinking. I still tumble dry bedding, towels, kids’ clothes, pants, socks, t shirts etc

I love my condenser dryer but I only use it for school shirts, husbands work scruffs, towels, bedding and pants and socks. T-shirts/jeans etc I find it shrinks!

I use ours for everything , I have a heated airer and a rotary clothes line but I can’t be arsed rushing in and out taking clothes in if it rains and often needs to get finished in dryer anyway !

apart from jumpers, the only thing I have shrinkage problems with is seasalt sailor tops.

In other countries, they call us weird for hanging washing. The only thing is they're meant to be getting rid of some types of tumbledryers, but as long as you have it, enjoy!

Which countries? Only one I can really think of is US? Because afaik Europe mainland and many other areas are mainly hanging washing. Isn't UK right behind US with number of dryers?

Other than for stuff that doesn’t tumble dry well, I use mine all the time. I’m not having damp laundry everywhere. 👍

I use ours all year round & only hang out stuff that can’t be tumbled or if I want the sun to bleach stains on whites.
We all have hayfever so line drying isn’t advised & we had solar panels fitted last year so high energy bills/usage isn’t an issue.

Beko heat pump one (I am in mainland EU so model number is different to UK)

It dries everything soft and warm and without creases in about 90 mins on the cupboard dry + setting.

I’d definitely use the tumble dryer rather than having clothes on an airer indoors if I couldn’t use the washing line. Clothes take forever to dry inside, especially in the colder months, and I hate that slightly musty smell they can end up with.
Three loads a week doesn’t sound excessive to me either. Enjoy your new tumble dryer!
