Husband has ruined dinner

I’m been upstairs packing for a holiday so asked husband to cook dinner, all of the ingredients for a shepards pie are in the fridge/cupboard.
Came down and thought.. That smells nothing like shepards pie. He has poured an entire jar of Passata and half a jar of parsley into the meat.
Im going to beans on toast. My AIBU is this..
YABU.. Sounds fine to me.
YANBU.. He has made bolognese with mash potatoes and gravy.

I like to fry off chopped onion and garlic then add the beans and simmer for ages, then add some chili sauce!

Suspect this is what he's trying to avoid with weaponised incompetence.

@Springtimeinsunshine is right OP - even if I'm wrong, he needs more practice.

And since that is fair and equitable, and I'm sure he doesn't want to be seen to be exploiting you like a misogynist who believes domestic stuff is beneath him - he won't have a leg to stand on to argue against a reasonably equal split of cooking.

What gets me is the picture some people seem to have formed in their mind… of me dragging DH from the cooker by his balls whilst screaming that he is a stupid bastard who needs to make me beans on toast now while I toddle off to a corner and sulk.
What actually happened is I came downstairs, queried why dinner smells so weird, saw the ingredients, asked him why he feels the need to add extra ingredients that in my opinion don’t go into a shepards pie, taste a bit, told him I didn’t like it, he and DS had there’s and I had beans on toast, it really wasn’t a big deal!
The post was supposed to be lighthearted, I’ve never heard of passata or parsley going into a Shepards pie, I’m surprised that lots of people seem to.
But why would I eat a meal that I didn’t like?!? If DH didn’t like something I cooked he’d do the same as me and I also wouldn’t be offended.

It sounds ok to me, and not really any easier to make than a conventional shepherds pie so I’d imagine it’s a combination he thought he’d like and didn’t realise you might not.

Except for the parsley. Dried parsley IME has very little flavour, it’s like lawn clippings. That’s largely the fault of whoever bought it in the first place instead of herbs which are ok dried, although if the quantity is accurate rather than hyperbole that’s odd.

Not the point of the thread, but was is even the point of dried parsley?! Also shepherds pie in August? 😲

I think its more that he didn't bother to cook it properly and what he served up therefore wasn't great or how she would have cooked it. She told him what ingredients they had available for it.

She was busy packing for the holiday and ask him to take over but he phoned it in.

She's also said, she's really just saying it lightheartedly.

More to the point, why on earth are you eating dinner at 4.30 in the afternoon???

You can even get freeze dried parsley in little cartons in Lidl 😂

I used to make cottage pie when I lived in Italy but my Italian friends would only eat it if made with herbs and tomatoes mixed in the mince, and cheese on top of the mash. They really enjoyed it then. What's with all the posters who've never seen dried herbs in jars? They're in every supermarket including those on the continent.

You’ve not specified fthe meat. But bolognaise is beef, shepherd pie is lamb, the clue being in the name there.

if it was bolognaise with mash it would likely be lovely, the gravy is the odd thing here.

I can top this...Shepherds pie was a family favourite. Husband made it, It had a weird smell and chemical taste. He'd added some sort of packet to it. Then denied it, then I found it in the bin. It tasted vile.
