Which burger would you prefer?-Cultural differences?

Option A: Bbq burger on a burger bap with cheese, ketchup, salad, wedges and corn on the cob

Option B: Grilled burger (no bap etc) with plain pasta and salt

We had Dds friend over for lunch after Dd asked her if she wanted to come for burgers and toasted marshmallows. She was quite confused about the burger as has it like option B at home, aside from at McDonald’s.

Which burger do you prefer and can anyone guess which country we’re in?

I don't get what you're trying to prove about this child

Franxi · Yesterday 22:05

My brother’s friend came over for dinner once and asked for option 2. He was from the south coast of England.

WhatNoRaisins · Yesterday 22:07

Never heard of option B. I like an A style burger and I have lots of pasta dishes I like but that sounds like a disappointing hybrid to me.

SemperIdem · Yesterday 22:08

Can’t guess where you are but I would be quietly baffled if presented with option B, personally. Option A is the norm, to me.

Option A - SE England.

Never heard of burger and pasta before.

When I was a child if people had burgers at home they were usually served with chips or mash - no buns.
Unless it was very specifically a BBQ. Then you got a bun.
(which was probably once a year when relatives came over on the august bank holiday 😂)
My daughter likes to eat burgers with rice. Even if at a BBQ. No buns for her. Even at McDonald's or Burger King she doesn't eat the bun.
Never had burger with pasta. Although whats the difference really between meatballs and pasta vs burger and pasta other than the shape of the squished up meat 🤔
Conclusion.....
Does it matter?

mynameiscalypso · Yesterday 22:10

I’d assume you’re in France and it’s more like a steak haché rather than a burger.

I'm stuck on a "bap'

poachy · Yesterday 22:11

Is this not just fussy child syndrome? I have one that would prefer b to a because everything plain. Surely adults in whatever country you are in wouldn’t choose B?

Don't start complicating things about what to call a bread roll.....😂😂

cariadlet · Yesterday 22:13

I would expect A if someone was inviting me for a barbecue.

If (when I was a child), I'd been invited for lunch and told that we were going to have burgers, then I'd expect a grilled burger without a burger roll but I would expect it to be served with something like chips and baked beans rather than with pasta.

WhatNoRaisins · Yesterday 22:13

I could imagine if I was scraping a meal together from not much food in the house cooking a burger and chopping it up to eat with pasta and tomato sauce. I wouldn't call it a burger meal though.

BreakingBroken · Yesterday 22:14

🤮A cooked burger patty on spaghetti? I’ve never heard of such a concoction.

WillAdvicePls · Yesterday 22:14

I've seen similar to option B in Spain. Plain pasta would be a kids option.

But would you eat meatballs and pasta?
That's a fairly normal meal.

Adults have it too

😂Why?

Everyone knows the Brits have 456 different names for a bread roll depending on where you live.
Say the wrong one .....oooh people hate that 😂😂😂

That would need a whole new thread!

Yes true 🤣 but it terms of a burger, surely it has to be a burger bap, rather than burger roll? Doesn’t make sense

Closer to option A although I’d have BBQ sauce or burger relish or similar.

Option B I’m guessing is France as I don’t know where else they eat pasta like that

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · Yesterday 22:20

I’d always have said burger bun 😬

PTSDpanic · Yesterday 22:21

I lived in Greece for a year as a teenager and serving plain spaghetti (instead of potatoes) with grilled meat of all types seemed to be a fairly common homemade kid’s meal.

I would add that it was a long time ago 😂 in an era when plain grilled burgers with chips was the normal way to serve burgers at home in the UK.Buns were only for barbecues or restaurants.
