Option A: Bbq burger on a burger bap with cheese, ketchup, salad, wedges and corn on the cob

Option B: Grilled burger (no bap etc) with plain pasta and salt

We had Dds friend over for lunch after Dd asked her if she wanted to come for burgers and toasted marshmallows. She was quite confused about the burger as has it like option B at home, aside from at McDonald’s.

Which burger do you prefer and can anyone guess which country we’re in?

Option A is what most people think if when people say they are having burgers. Never heard of a burger patty with pasta before…

I would expect an undressed burger and the cook to ask cheese or no cheese. Each person can add the condiments and vegetables of their choice.

Why would everyone want the same thing?

I did ask, but our family just all happens to like it the same

The Philippines 🇵🇭

I’m reminded of a thread on MN many years ago when someone was outraged that her son had been offered noodles to accompany a burger. She kept repeating, “It’s a burger. It needs wedges” as if that was some sort of law. 😅

I’ve never said the word bap in my life, but I like the way it sounds.

As for where you are, Germany?

My children also eat the burger with plain pasta for school lunch sometimes or with rice and veg, which seems more normal

Yep. Very normal to have the burger without bun in France, accompanied by pasta or veg, although we would call it a “steak haché” not a “burger.” It’s pretty common.

However, even in France, “burger” involves a bun, cheese and ketchup, salad etc. Usually served with frites.

We were in a restaurant last week where they had a kids menu with a choice of steak haché and chips or burger (in a bun) and chips which did not seem to me like much of a choice really although does neatly prove your point!

As in the school serves it for school lunch, with lots of salt 😬

I don’t know which country but I would be very sad to be served option B.

Just tell us the country OP or this will hit the tipping point for boring / tedious. You can still rescue the situation 😜

Harsh. But fair 😉

Persephonia1966 · Today 00:32

I made burgers without a bun as I didn't have it and the outrage from my son. So I'm guessing NOT the Netherlands

Stopshoutingtv · Yesterday 22:18

Yes true 🤣 but it terms of a burger, surely it has to be a burger bap, rather than burger roll? Doesn’t make sense

Burger bun actually!

I am going to confess that I have been known to eat a burger accompanied by a packet of Super Noodles 😱
AKA "all I could find in the cupboard".

Make that a veggie burger and I think it's my favourite option so far. Proper comfort food.
