I’ve told the staff - they say the families are probably there to relax !
I’ve given Paddington bear hard stares To the offending dick heads
when I got knocked on head by a noodle I said to the parent - this is an adult pool -
blank / empty stare in response - no intelligent life could be detected

I think I’ll accept defeat

Who have you spoken to? Just the pool staff? They should deal with it, but as they aren’t, I’d speak to the manager rather than accepting defeat!

BerryTwister · 17/08/2026 14:34

You need to get a manager at the hotel to put it in writing that children are allowed to go in the adult only pool. Also ask if you can record him/her telling you this. Then you can claim a partial refund.

Staff aware -
no action taken
…. waiting for the noisy little assholes to set off a code brown

We had that in the family pool yesterday afternoon. Pool then closed for the rest of the day

Sensiblesal · 17/08/2026 14:45

This is why I tend to do adults only parts of a resort or swim up/private pools.

that being said, had this in a swim up that was shared by the 4/5 rooms along the corridor. Rooms only available to over 18’s and explicitly no children in the swim ups.

halfway through the hol, a couple get the room two doors down. Then their whole family with kids just come every afternoon to the swim up.

it was annoying as fuck 20 people just floating about in front of the room 😂. They had to go past the children's area with slides, main pools and the lazy river to get to the adults only section.

I didn’t complain cos I wasn’t in my Karen era but I probably would now. If I’m in adults only its cos I want R&R

You need to speak to a manager. Maybe the staff at the pool are worried about confrontation. Not sure what it's like abroad, but certainly in this country I feel that people on the lowest wage are often expected to deal with the most grief and therefore are more reluctant.

Ah fond memories of being called a Nazi for daring to enforce safety rules as a lifeguard Smile

I would ask to speak to one of the on duty managers. Not the reception staff.

Amsylou · 17/08/2026 15:04

Pre kids I used to go to adults only hotels for this exact reason. Much harder to invade the pool if no kids checked in. Highly recommend this next time. Otherwise, what can you do unless staff enforce it?

EarthlyNightshade · 17/08/2026 15:10

I have kids and still love an adult only pool.
Resort I was in a few years ago, had six pools and one was adult only.
Kids were too young to be unsupervised but DH and I took a couple of turns of hanging with the kids while the other slipped off to the adult pool.
If it's a thing, it should be a thing.

I would complain that this was one of the main reasons you booked the resort and ask them to take the adult pool off their details if they don't provide one.

@GaaNeen get it in writing that it’s not an issue they’re prepared to address. Then you can claim a partial refund.

Tell staff. Be clear you expect them to sort it out. If they don’t the hotel will have a manager on duty. Tell them you expect clearer signs and enforcement.

Are you sure they are adult only pools though? I've seen separate kids pools but I've never seen an adult only pool. Either way you just tell the staff surely.

Both hotels i have stayed in this summer have had adult only pools and the one i am heading to soon is adult only.

There’s always the online reviews! Just say what you’ve told us - I would certainly thank you for the heads up

damemaggiescurledupperlip · 17/08/2026 22:07

Surely the lifeguard ratio needs to be higher for a pool with kids in? They may be invalidating their insurance or clearance or whatever

Absolutely this. Write a review stating you're staying there right now, what happened and list the staff who aren't interested. Say if you're an adult hoping to relax then find another hotel as this one has kids running riot.

Bananacrepewithnuts · 17/08/2026 22:12

GaaNeen · 17/08/2026 13:53

The hotel proudly boasts on its online details blah blah blah …. Two family pools and an adult pool for relaxing ….

relaxing next to dive bomb Charlie and screaming Evie and baby Peter in his very heavy looking nappy …. My arse …

Yeah that would get on my tits.
Try again with reception or take it to management if still no joy.

Show them the wording on the website and ask them to show you where the adults oy pool is!

This. We went to a hotel with a shallow kids pool (like 0.6 or 0.7m), and a bigger pool. A french lady went and whinged about kids in the bigger pool and was told its not adult only!

Post a review online saying no adult only pool

You'll find they swiftly sort it

Cheers for the support and advise -
I’m on it now with complaint and review

So? There are separate pools for the kids. How entitled to think just because it’s the holidays you are entitled to ignore any rules. We’ve just been to a hotel (US) with an adults pool
and a large kids pool. Jacuzzi over 16 only. All clearly marked, was sitting in the jacuzzi when a selfish sod let her two kids (I’d say under 5) with their inflatable ball into the jacuzzi. Splashing went right over my book. I pointed out the sign and she huffed but did get out. They just hope no one will say anything/are selfish pricks and don’t care. I’d def be asking for a duty manager.

Lavendersong · 18/08/2026 02:29

Tell them you want a refund if they don’t do anything about it plus negative reviews on Tripadvisor warning others

That's even more of a reason for the adult pool to remain adults only! I thought that was the whole purpose of a lot of resorts and they use it as a selling point - offering kids clubs and then adult only facilities.

ilovesooty · 18/08/2026 07:44

They should be providing a facility as advertised.
