Dear lord, what are you on about? Most of the original left were Jewish and White. Some were women.

Who hates women? Where are you getting this gibberish from?

Yeah there’s always a nutter you can find to prove a point but that’s like me saying Enoch Powell is the face of modern conservativism. “The left” has got you:
sick pay
maternity leave
the NHS
union support
employment rights
sex equality
education free at point of entry

Where would working class women be without these things?

You don’t think kindly aristocrats would give us those things do you? We’ve all had to fight for even basic dignity. And it’s eroded as soon as you take your foot off the gas. Class struggle is constant.

yeah there’s some people angry about Israel’s/ USA’s treatment of Palestinian people but only idiots hate Jewish people as a result. Sadly antisemitism existed before 7th October, before the state of Israel and WW2. Antisemitism is an evil poison as is all racism.

Please tell me the source of your information saying that people on left hate Jewish people and women. You know that there’s all sort of shit swirling around out there don’t you? Bots and other disinformation designed to destabilise us. Please, let me say, woman to woman, by all means read everything, and know your enemies but for God’s sake exercise a little bit of thought before announcing that people on the left hate Jews, women and white people!

Some great men and women on the left over the years, and some great achievements. But now look at them. Obsessed with 57 genders, Islam (who ironically, secretly hate them, but they're useful idiots so they haven't quite turned on them yet), hating Jews, sorry, Israel, and obsessing over the oppression Olympics. If Clement Atlee and Nye Bevan could see them now, christ.

The biggest problem is people not using what’s between their ears
A modicum of critical thinking, listening to facts not beliefs , doing a bit of background research, not taking things too personally , and this whole thread (and most of mumsnet tbh) probably wouldn’t exist

Biological differences between men and women is a thing, which is why sex is protected characteristic; IQ differences between races comes with a hefty agenda and a fucktonne of prejudice
Not sure hypocrisy is the word you’re looking for

Cofnas collates data as the what other people have said that could explain why average IQ differences exist between populations. That doesn’t make him a racist. His point is that Wokism denies these differences and then tries to make population outcomes match this denial. Seriously, he’s not a monster.

Is that the same poster who's just told the rest of us we don't use what's between our ears and employ critical thinking? How amusing.

Neverstopwondering · Yesterday 14:55

You mean being against white people. Woke is pro-racism against white people and Jews and against Christians and women.

That is actually an understatement. These people are not just against the rights of women and Jews to have their own agency and be safe they regularly support people that threaten to physically harm them!

No wonder Hilter started promoting his politics in universities before taking things to the wider Germany population. No wonder Hitler called his party the socialist workers party. It was to con gullible young people and academic elite into thinking his way. Groom them to his own ideology.

Does that sound familiar to everyone It really should sound familiar because we have been watching it happen lately. The slow drip of properganda into universities and schools to both convert young people into supporting dangerous ideologies and to numb them to violence towards minority groups that won't fall in line with the agenda getting pushed.

@SevenYellowHammers you have lumped all the right together. I take it you won't mind me doing the same about the left. Take a look at the state of the Green party and its collection of haters. Don't like women, don't like Jews, Don't like Israel, don't like able bodied people, don't like straight white people. You're painting them as such a delightful bunch. Heather Herbert has got news for you.

I don’t lump all right together. Where/when have I said that? You seem to see what you want to see.

Old fashioned Conservatives weren’t dreadful people, I admire Kemi’s commitment, strength of character and communication skills. Boris made horrendous mistakes during Covid but his daily briefings were an important part of keeping us informed and safer. William Hague was a decent enough fellow, I remain truly sad about how Ann W’s life ended so violently, she didn’t deserve that poor lady…. and I could go on and on .

I’d rather have a beer with a Tory than someone who has no political views at all.

However, pardon me if I swerve Donald Trump, Nigel Farage, Paul Dacre, Rupert Murdoch et al because as well as being politically stupid, they are not even good at what they do.

The Green Party needs to get back to putting ecological issues back at the heart of what they do but Hannah Spencer seems to be a decent enough lass and at least is caring.

Zack has made too many gaffs as far as I can see and nearly all politicians need to learn how to handle social media better or hire an 18 year old to show them the ropes.

Is that balanced enough for you?

For the record, I’m a church going (soon to be trained to be a lay reader), retired teacher, who lives in a nice village, and works as a supply teacher and a union official.

I listen to folk and indie music, own two horses, have a kid a uni and I’m a pastoral volunteer for an Anglican Church.

But if you want to paint me as a Jew hating misogynistic who hates White people… well what can I do? But it goes to prove how easily the lies and half truths build up if someone is determined enough doesn’t it?

Anyway, I’ve got my beliefs and you yours. Go in peace…

What was this all about then? I quote you:

"You’ve got to ask yourself why does the right wing hate us so much. Is it possible that they might have something to lose by subjugated people becoming organised?"

I didn’t say I hated them though! But a lot of them hate the left. I ask you again, why? What’s so sad is when they recruit working class people to fight their battles, as with Farage.

Pacificbeach · Today 05:27

We all see the world differently. I see capitalism as the one system that has consistently raised living standards and brought the common man out of poverty. I see socialism as an ideology that has starved tens of millions of people and taken away the freedom of hundreds of millions more.

By the 1990s it was a settled argument and we were getting on with more free trade and expanding prosperity. Then the far left brings in identity politics to breakdown society so they can have another go at all this discredited stuff that makes people poorer and less free.

I am into evidence not ideology. I think there is one truth and objective facts.

Cofnas, as I understand it is obsessed with IQ as an objective measure of "intelligence", despite the numerous flaws in that. The whole idea that intelligence can meaningfully be measured along a single dimension is extremely questionable, even before you get onto the issue of the specific ways of measuring that. Data suggests something like a 15 point average IQ difference between whites and blacks (in America at least). But there's also a 15 point average IQ difference between people today and people 50 years ago! (This doesn't show up in the stats because they keep recalibrating the scoring.) What's more likely, people are genetically superior to two generations ago, or that the test isn't actually measuring something genetic?

The construct of race is also highly problematic. In the US you can still identify blacks and whites as fairly distinct groups due to their particular history, but globally the races all blur into each other. So you're trying to establish a relationship between one hard-to-define thing (intelligence) and another (race), on the basis of extremely primitive and questionable criteria.

(This, by the way, is absolutely not like sex, for which the genetic determination is extremely well understood and mostly very simple.)

Cofnas then seems fixated with genetic explanations for the differences, but as far as I'm aware without real substantiation of what he's proposing. I believe it really isn't going much beyond "there's a difference so it must be genetic". He's a philosopher, not a biologist, but he's making (poorly evidenced) biological claims. Systematic consideration of environmental factors - which is what everyone else interested in this area have decided makes sense to focus on - is treated only superficially.

But even if the science was great - his rhetoric is appalling. Going from a statistical difference between populations to suggesting that virtually no black person is intelligent enough to be anything more than a sportsperson or entertainer. Talk of a "revolution" to put black people back in their place. Joking (possibly?) about being made "professor of eugenics".

This is another case where people are doing the usual idiotic thing of siding with their Team. You can either support a liar and a cheat or you can support a racist scumbag. Well, guess what? - you don't need to support either! Rowling, as usual, is one of the few prominent figures clever enough not to fall into this trap.

Exactly. The sick stuff we saw after Kirk's murder and Ann Widdecombe. The allegledy #BeNice to trans activists who want to burn Jk Rowling or decapitate terfs in general.
The bile and hate is always from the 'be nice to people' lefties. Always.

Yes, from what I've seen his substack article was stating that Harvard research had found certain ethnicities excel in academia and others excel in sport and if we went purely on merit there would not be much black representation at top level academia.

I admit to not knowing much about Cofnas but this oft quoted 'he said black people should not be in academia! ' is taken widely out of context. Now he's been suspended from Ghent uni, isn't this what lefties call hounding and a 'witch hunt' when someone is scrutinised and investigated?

I don’t know who Heather Herbert is.

Will my life be enhanced by knowing? Farage lied (according to the French mechanic who attended) about his wheel nuts being tampered with. That’s all I’m aware of.

I regularly meet with people who could be described as on the left, in two different groups, and we don’t talk about killing people or making death threats.

I do wish Farage would go away, he adds nothing to anything in my view and I feel desperately sorry for the good people of Clacton and particularly Jaywick, who need real change, no another farce by-election (which is apparently on the cards). But genuinely, there’s no plot amongst my left wing friends to bump the little guy off.

We do talk about helping others with the pressures of current life and campaigning for social justice and change.

I think there’s a world beyond X and Facebook: I flick through and cringe over the RW bots and left’s response. A glorious waste of energy and resources. As is this. I think it’s important to remember social media isn’t really real life! 💜
