As the book launch is coming, let the discussion continue.

First thread: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/5563599-the-jason-arday-scandal?utm_campaign=thread&utm_medium=share
This is lifted from the thread in the education section, which is an interesting summary

Or AIBU with not letting this fade away?

See the excuses starting already from the keyboard warriors.
I think MN should remove this thread now out of respect to Jason Arday and his family.

Just seeing news alerts that he has been found dead.

Very sad.

I think you are right.

If I ever agree with the OP, I will know that my moral compass has gone. Vile.

I don't think anyone wanted this outcome. We can't live in a society where nobody can be challenged in case they harm themselves.

Voltaireiswoman · 14/08/2026 21:01

This really angers me as you're all being fooled and made to think racism when the real villains are the liberal and left wing organizations that saw a vulnerable autistic black chap and manipulated him pushing him forward for their own gain only to instantly cut him lose and leave him with the fallout the second they knew they had been caught out.

I think he was likely genuine and genuinely believed some of the outrageous things he said as there was some truth to them but due to his ND was very easily manipulated and the almost perfect person for certain organizations and political types to use.

If it was racism this story wouldn't have got this far

Fair point, well made. I termed it poorly. His case is a symptom of a bigger problem in academia, as I outlined

I'm still of the view that Fraud is in play by Arday and a criminal investigation would be in the public interest

Section 2 Fraud Act 2006 - Fraud by false representation fits the bill.

Well that’s not going to happen now.
RIP.

LuckyHazelFox · 14/08/2026 21:03

The people who are voting in now to post - why don't you practice what you preach and show some respect. Nobody on this thread is responsible for what has happened. The OP certainly isn't.

Yet, here you are. Scoring points. I'd recheck that moral compass.

I hope you're all utterly ashamed of yourselves. A disgraceful witch hunt.

Ladyfromthehill · 14/08/2026 21:05

Wonder if keyboard warriors yapping their mouths finally feel satisfied.

Everyone who was hounding him down is responsible and should feel responsible, and everyone at his throat. Such tragedies are made of thousands of online posts, op including. It's all fun and games until someone dies.

underthehawthorntree · 14/08/2026 21:08

The OP posted "AIBU with not letting this fade away". How can she not take responsibility for that. He was a human being. And people on the Internet who don't know him in any way wanted to prolong the witch hunt for as long as possible.

Yeah, OK. You crack on.

Millytante · 14/08/2026 21:10

Such a miserable, predictable outcome.
Whatever he may or may not have misled people about, it’s Cambridge University that’s the offender here.
They've really lost the run of themselves in recent years, obsessed with leaping onto passing bandwagons and disrespecting their core duty, to encourage learning for the love of learning, unfettered by the latest dogma.

Terribly sad; that poor man. RIP

This makes me even more angry and you're right to point this out and not fall for the racist narrative that being pushed as a distraction.

Where were the organizations that pushed Jason forward and encouraged him when he needed them!

You're right. I will leave the vultures to it.

Whatwerewetalkingabout · 14/08/2026 21:22

I think mumsnet should take this thread down now too, the witch hunt has had its desired effect by not letting this go. Let's let him rest in peace and maybe learn some lessons that these are real people that read social media pile ons and stuff like this has real life and death consequences, especially for people with disabilities who are maybe not resiliant enough for this sort of public onslaught. Xx

SevenYellowHammers · 14/08/2026 21:17

Me neither. I haven't commented on any threads about this man. The pile on was massive and now we have this as an outcome.

Lougle · 14/08/2026 21:24

Everyone is going to be very emotional. It's probably best if the university are given the time they need to hold their inquiry, and the family are given the time and space to mourn their loss.
