To be annoyed that so many Vinted sellers just don't bother posting the item?

Has anyone else found the same thing? It seems to be a more recent problem.

I bought 6 items, from 6 different sellers, on the same day a couple of weeks ago. I paid full asking price, didn't make any offers, didn't send any questions or ask them to post immediately or anything else that might have pissed the sellers off. I have a few hundred reviews, and 5 stars.

Not one of the sellers posted the item, and Vinted has now refunded me for all 6. I didn't hear a word from any of the sellers.

AIBU to think this is a bit of a piss take? If I really couldn't send an item that someone bought from me I would at least have the courtesy to let the buyer know and would cancel the sale.

I always check when they were last on the site and also their feedback as there are a lot of dormant accounts where the seller has not been seen for ages, sometimes over a year or more.

Also a lot don't realise there is a holiday mode feature and they go on holiday and things sell as the buyer is unaware they are away and they come back to negative feedback and a missed sale.

It is really annoying - I haven't experienced it for a while but I did have quite a few items not sent a couple of months ago.

Strange, that's happened to me only twice over 100s of items bought on Vinted.

Waiting on one to be posted today, it’s the last day of the postal window. Item was listed for 13 months! It’s not going to happen is it?

This just happened to me, decent (but small number) of reviews, seller missed the deadline to send, I messaged and said if you want to re-list when you've got a chance to send, il buy it again, she sent an apology and re-listed and then didnt send it again! My own fault really (noone else has been selling that exact item in my size for ages, hence the 2nd try!)

I had an item listed but didn’t receive any sort of notification that an offer had been made. I just happened to log in randomly two days later. I then didn’t get any sort of email to tell me they had bought the item and that I needed to post it.

I actually think Vinted should prompt users if their item has been up for over 6 months… and then delete the listing if it’s been up for over a year to prevent these kinds of things happening.

I always check when the item was listed. If it was a long while ago, I’ll message the seller to enquire as to whether it’s still available. If there’s no response, I would leave it.

I’ve not had this happen to me, but I was recently trying to message someone who had a suit for sale that I needed in a particular size. The suit just said XL rather than exact sizing. No answer from my 3 messages over a week. As a PP said, there should be some kind of “are you still wanting to sell this item?” Update after a certain amount of time.

funnily enough these were all recently listed items. I always like to check before I buy that the items not been listed and sitting there for months/years. I’m wondering if maybe there was an issue with Vinted notifications that day hence none of them saw that they’d sold something.

I think you got very unlucky. I've had a few things not posted but a small fraction of transactions. Like you I check when they were listed and check availability if they were listed months ago. Plus it is holiday season, I had somebody not post last week because they were on holiday, great but why not turn on holiday mode so I'm not inconvenienced?

I’ve very rarely experienced this so maybe you’ve just had monster bad luck? That sounds particularly bad so no wonder you’re fed up.

If anything has been listed for months, I usually send an offer (just below sale price) if I’m interested to test if I get an actual response or not. But for more recently listed things, that’s really poor and sounds like sheer incompetence by the sellers.

I suspect they've gone on holiday and forgot to put their account into holiday mode. It's the time of year.

What annoys me is when I accept someone’s offer then they disappear without completing the sale.

This thread just prompte me to check my vinted messages and I have just seen that yesterday an item I list about 2 months ago has sold. Good job I checked

They’re on holiday. I’ve sold over 500 things and only recently failed to ship 3 items (not in a. Row ) because I was away and also super busy with 3 small kids off school. It’s the time of year. Also they were all worth £1 so not a big loss to me

That has never happened to me - but I am getting a bit pissed off with sellers who don't send my items until the very last minute, so they can take 2 weeks to get to me. I always send my items by the next day or, if that isn't possible, I message the buyer to let them know when I will be able to send it.

I understand that, for some people, they may have fewer opportunities to send things than others - but most people should be able to send something on their way to/back from work/school/nursery surely? And if you are housebound and limited to when things can be sent then let your buyers know!

Another thing that REALLY pisses me off is the attitude of some Mumsnet Vinted sellers on here to a perfectly polite and reasonable request to send something as soon as they can please, if that is possible (not a demand, a request). I have seen several comments saying things like 'I do have a life as well you know' or 'I'm far too busy to send things quickly just because somebody wants them by a certain date'. Really? You don't have any opportunities at all to wrap something and take it to a drop off point somewhere on your way somewhere else? You don't have to go to a post office nowadays and you can choose which methods of sending you want to use/don't want to use. I know we are lucky... We have In Post, Evri and Royal Mail drop boxes all within easy driving distance plus loads of shops where we can drop things off, but are you trying to say that there is NOWHERE for you to drop something off and you have NO TIME AT ALL to do that? If that is the case maybe you shouldn't be selling on Vinted.

There’s the opposite problem, which is equally annoying, which is buyers not collecting their parcel so then it gets returned and they get refunded. There’s been a few of them lately. Why waste my time posting the parcel and then having to go back and collect it? If you don’t want it don’t bloody buy it in the first place!

This was me a few weeks back. I was away when i sold and then just forgot when I returned home.

I've now taken the listings down and given the stuff to charity. Its not worth the hassle tbh

This has happened to me a few times and it's annoying. If you look at the seller's reviews, chances are they'll have done it before (review says 'sale not completed' or similar). They're probably busy and forgot to send the item but if you're that busy/disorganised then you shouldn't be selling on Vinted.

Somebody didn’t pick up shoes I sent and they were returned to me. When I queried it, she said she had had notifications from Vinted because she’d deleted the app, found that a bit odd given the texts/emails I get when something arrives!

I’ve only ever not had one or two items sent, so I think it’s odd what you’ve experienced. Speaking to a French mate recently, she says the new thing over there is people sending empty packaging, so now she films everything she packs.

I think Vinted should remove the accounts from people who don’t post items. Maybe three strikes and they’re out. I recently made the mistake of buying an extremely rare item from a seller for my DS’s bday and they just didn’t send it. I sent messages explaining how rare this item was and how much it would mean to my DS who has SEN. She promised to post but didn’t. I checked her feedback and she had form for it. Just remove the account. Pisses me off.

Agree with you. Inpost has made it easier than ever to post, the lockers are literally everywhere and it takes less than a minute to do.

Agree, this has happened to me too and it is frustrating. I did almost forget to collect one once because to be fair to me the seller had left it till the last possible date to post so by the time it arrived, I was away. I thankfully saw the final notification that it was about to be sent back and asked a friend to collect.

I’m getting this all the time! It’s so frustrating! I’ve started sending offers, even just ten pence less to see if the seller is active before buying!

They aren't agreeing to buy it like on eBay. It'll stand as their price for the item as long as the item is listed, so they can come back to it (just like if you offered).
