What are you fed up about?!

My own children mostly 😂

Days out are exhausting me. Days in are unthinkable.

Why are days in unthinkable? Sometimes you just have to stay in. I do have a very hard SEN kid.

<hollow laugh> loud kids, husband working from home, endless arguments and conflict.

The MN ideal of a chilled day at home just isn’t my reality unfortunately!

Move to Scotland. We only have a fortnight left. It would be nearly over for you now.

How old are your children?

3 and 5.

Nor mine to be fair but I alternate between day in and day out. Hope your husband is helping when work is finished?

My kids are the same age, DH also works from home. I’m loving the holiday and annoyed I have to work a few days this week I just want the whole time off with them. What’s the issue? (Both my kids are pretty energetic, likely ADHD, and piss each other off all the time too so they’re not chilled, easy kids)

Hard ages! And no groups open over the summer - I remember the challenge….
I had a few favourite (safe from roads) playgrounds I frequented and ice cream….

I imagine we’re just very different people @BuffaloCauliflower , which I don’t intend in any way to sound objectionable, it’s just an observation. I find having them with me 24/7, without any real end in sight (obviously September but it’s only 2 August!) pretty overwhelming and exhausting, lovely as they are, I am very tired, and knowing I have to do it all again tomorrow … and the day after … and the day after that …

Yeeeees these little things that add structure to the week are gone, it’s all this TIME!

Splash pad?

Lego sets, library, picnic lunches in the park.....then movie and chill?

We used to build forts with an old clothes airer and some blankets then they would have lunch in the fort. Mine are now 18 and 21 , i remember trying to keep them entertained!!

Mess / fight
Never open and nothing to do there even when it’s open
No one ever eats them and I have to make the damned thing and carry it around

This is, genuinely, why I have always worked PT since DS was born and used year round nursery when he was the age of your youngest. I can be fun mummy sometimes - but not 7 days a week for a month and a half when DH is WFH Monday to Friday. I get very overstimulated and jittery from lack of personal space.

I can't be the only one whose child wouldn't sit and watch a film until at least 7 years old?

Don’t feel guilty - it is hard at that age with no support. I’m trying to remember what I did but it was basically a circuit of play parks tbh

@emeraldsapphirepearl we used to raid the local bakers so saved me worrying Lol. COVID killed the bakers off tho 😕

Perhaps, but I’ve just come off being signed out off with burnout and have been mainly overwhelmed with parenting most of the year. I absolutely understand the relentlessness. For me holidays just reduce the overwhelm because we don’t have to be on a schedule, or battling 5 year old to school, commuting early in the morning etc etc, so it’s all pared back and feels much easier all things considered. We can just do whatever we want.

When I said what’s the issue I meant what are the main issues for you as maybe there’s something people can suggest.

To be honest I’m not exactly short on ideas of things to do. I’ve booked a day at the farm tomorrow and there is loads there. Jumping pillows and animals and a big soft play and paddling pools. It’s just knackering when you’re doing it back to back.
