The fridge ate the Jaffa Cake.

I opened a packet of Jaffa Cakes last night and DH, DS and I enjoyed a little sweet snack in front of the TV. There was one left so I put it in the fridge.

This morning DH and DS left early to travel to some sport. I opened the fridge door, saw the Jaffa Cake (I’d forgotten all about it so a nice surprise) and thought I would enjoy it mid morning. I am alone in the house.

Now that I want the Jaffa Cake I have opened the fridge door and the Jaffa Cake HAS GONE.

I am still alone in the house. I definitely didn’t eat it. I checked the bin for the wrapper in case I’d eaten it in a narcoleptic fit. No wrapper. No Jaffa Cake. I am an organised person so the fridge is neatly packed and not a chaotic mess.

Where the bloody hell is it? The fridge ate it. That’s my only explanation.

YABU for putting one Jaffa cake back in the fridge. Who does that?!? Shock

Cherrycola4 · 01/08/2026 13:16

You obviously have someone living in your loft.

Well you bloody should be.

You have a dog you don’t know about. You opened the fridge, saw the Jaffa cake, and as you closed the fridge it fell out and the dog ate it.

I do actually have a dog and I briefly considered her as the perp pup but then I really don’t think she can open an American fridge with her poodle paws.

I think this is my favourite thread of the day! I thought I had eaten the last one of the first of two Jaffa cake packets yesterday and when I went to put it in the fridge there was an extra one! Clearly they are good at hiding!

lindanovak · 01/08/2026 13:36

I can’t get over Jaffa cakes in the fridge Shock

SpidersAreShitheads · 01/08/2026 13:37

I had some Jaffa cakes last night as well.

Everyone else had gone to bed so I thought I’d nibble on a few.

I ate the whole pack. Not intentionally. But one thing led to another and then the cellophane wrapper was empty.

I also discovered that if you eat two Jaffa cakes together, the explosion of orangeyness is almost orgasmic.

I can't get over leaving one in the box. Maybe this is the kind of self discipline I need to aspire to.

TheGriffle · 01/08/2026 13:44

Surely being left in a fridge overnight would have rendered the Jaffa cake into a stale, hard biscuit rather than the soft cakey texture it should be?

And to clarify, you put it in the fridge then moved it to the freezer, or have they been in the freezer since last night?

Lovemycat2023 · 01/08/2026 13:45

The house doesn’t get below 25 degrees atm. Fridging them is required! Otherwise too melty.

You imagined the whole thing. No one puts a singular jaffa cake back in the fridge. You actually ate them all last night and because you'd enjoyed them you imagined there was one left this morning.

This!

OP, are you also one of those people who can split a 2 finger Kit Kat into 2 pieces and save one half for later? 😊

HeyHowdyHey · 01/08/2026 13:53

one sad little jaffa returned to the fridge? You’re hallucinating, no one does that.

Cuppachuchu · 01/08/2026 14:12

I predict that parsnip jaffa cakes will be a thing this Christmas, you mark my words.

cowasballerina · 01/08/2026 14:31

I love parsnips so would deffo try parsnip jaffas.

I keep all chocolate and chocolate biscuits in the fridge. Fight me.

Teaandscone · 01/08/2026 14:45

Well, one Jaffa cake is never enough so perhaps it would be better to get some more!

SmokyPotato · 01/08/2026 14:54

I'm glad you found the jaffa cakes OP!

I keep chocolate in the fridge in this warm weather. I had 2 little chocolates go missing on me the other day, I knew I had put them in the fridge and I wanted to have them with my cup of tea. I eventually found them hiding in the egg holder on the shelf of the fridge door.

ObliviousCoalmine · 01/08/2026 14:58
  1. why are you putting Jaffa cakes in the fridge? Inexcusable.
  2. why would you not just have the last one. What kind of unhinged lunatic puts a single Jaffa cake away.
ilovepixie · 01/08/2026 15:02

Why would you leave one Jaffa cake.
Why would you put it in the fridge!
something not right here 😂😂

Me neither! But didn't they then escape to the freezer? If I followed the plot correctly....
OP, weren't they rock hard?

Funnily enough, a Jaffa cake is a mighty fine pudding dipped in an Irish coffee.

It’s not so much self-discipline as feeling very, very sick.

I must have put them straight in the freezer as my “safe” place.

Parsnips are quite sweet ie you can make cakes with them, similar to carrot cake. So I shall experiment!

See you on GBBO folks ✔️
