Dentist appointment at 3pm and cars playing up.
It will be 29 degrees at 3 and it’s an hours walk each way with a toddler in push chair and two primary school children.

But I'm pretty sure no one is recommending walking for 2 hours in the heat of day even in those countries. Humans are just not designed for that, especially children.

Given its only 15 degrees in Aberdeen, coastal areas are quite breezy and someone in the NE has had to put her cardi on, definitely walk. But do make sure you wrap up. A 20 minute, 1 hour, 3 mile walk round the corner is just what you need.

No. 2 hours when the temperature is almost or over 30C with high humidity.

Are you saying that all of Europe is over 29C for the entire time of May to Oct? Because it's not. And also I said 2h, which is twice as long.

Would you would genuinely take your child out walking for 2h in 29C heat?

The uk government recommends exercising first or last thing on hot days, even for a dog walk, which is usually adults and under 2h. No strenuous activity at all on hot days for kids. Under 5s particularly vulnerable to heat stroke. there is also some truth to uk heart being different because high humidity makes sweat less efficient.

Some very hot countries are literally designed around trying not to be outside mid afternoon. They are also more likely to have air con so when you do get inside you can actually cool down.

But maybe the uk gov is molly coddling us.

My kids are great walkers, but I would still reschedule. It's just unnecessary to walk that far back and forth just for a check-up.

Is it even likely to be a nice walk, or just schlepping across town surrounded by traffic? Mine COULD do it, put a hat and drink enough, but I wouldn't bother.

it's England, it's not a life-threatening heat if you are sensible, don't push it.
I wouldn't bother because it does seem like a pointless trip, but it's not as bad as you try to make it

If you can’t get a lift or a taxi I’d reschedule. It’s a long walk for anyone in the heat, but especially young children.

Is it a NHS appointment for the child? I would definitely try and keep it.
As others suggest, can you get a taxi or is there a bus?
I would not want to walk it myself, let alone having a child walking alongside and pushing a pushchair.
