Male manager leaving gift ideas

Giftideass · 06/07/2026 18:13

Please I’m really struggling to find some
Gifts for my male line manager. He’s in his 40’s. Made redundant. I’m getting a nice bottle of wine but need other things to add to the collection. Please help. He’s been so lovely to me.

Box of chocolates or artisan liquorice
Flowers
Something to do with one of his interests or hobbies.
Gardening: A Gardena trowel and some flower seeds.
Biking: A good water bottle
Trekking: a map of walking routes

Honestly I don’t know much about him which is sad. He’s very private

A one for all gift card

Blingismything · 06/07/2026 18:37

John Lewis gift card.

Giftideass · 06/07/2026 18:50

My colleagues are saying the only criteria is to make the gifts as embarrassing as possible so he has to carry it on the bus and when he opens it in front of everyone! Not weird embarrassing but like I think they mean cringe. Like massive bouquet of flowers, balloons. What else can I add?

He is literally the nicest guy I have ever met. He’s so fair and considerate. I want him to leave with a smile on his face and know he was respected

Ignore your stupid colleagues, the guy is being made redundant and he's been nice to you, get him a decent present.

1985goingbackagain · 06/07/2026 18:52

A restaurant gift card?

Ibi · 06/07/2026 18:52

If he’s a lovely guy, don’t give him something embarrassing or some crap he’s going to throw away. What’s the budget?

Liquorice?

She said she liked him!

Grim as fuck present.

Sure, but the guy is being made redundant. If I was up against it, I’d want cash money, not flowers and balloons.

Nighttimenoise · 06/07/2026 18:55

Does he have a garden, maybe a small acer in a nice pot ?

MyNameIsBatty · 06/07/2026 18:58

I'd go restaurant voucher, John Lewis voucher or something nice for the garden (providing he has one).
Agree that balloons are such a rubbish present...useless and just end up in the bin after a week.

Ohpleeeease · 06/07/2026 18:59

Decent travel mug, quality coffee set, nice biscuits, interesting socks (I’m sure there’s a company that sells socks in threes so you don’t have a pair!)

This^^

I'd get him the wine and maybe a gift card. Don't set out to humiliate him. He's just been made redundant. The people telling you to embarrass him are idiots

The poor guy has lost his job through redundancy. You all get to keep your job. Don’t give him shit presents, what a way to make him feel worse!!

Lexy2345 · 06/07/2026 19:05

Wine, cheese, and a plant.

grumpygrape · 06/07/2026 19:07

Ignore idiot colleagues with stupid money wasting embarrassing stuff.
Cheese, crackers, chutneys? Make a hamper/mini-hamper depending on budget.

I’ve got him a really nice alcohol bottle worth just under 65 quid. The rest I’m not sure. Budget around 100

Where’s best place? M and S? Or maybe Waitrose - where would you go?

Either John Lewis or cinema/coffee shop voucher so he can treat himself to a film or a coffee when he’s out and about
