not the first time i have done this and the teachers have always looked really pleased before

but

after buying the wine this morning i met another school mum on the walk home and told her where i had been/what i was buying and she thinks that it is offencive to buy someone wine you dont know that well

1/ i should not be taking it onto school grounds
2/ they may not like wine and be offended that i think they do

in a bit of a panic now incase this is the case, last day of nursery is this afternoon!!!

rubbish
my fave present

MadamePlatypus · 25/06/2008 19:54

I don't think its a problem - I would imagine that teachers swap their presents anyway - if she doesn't drink she might be able to swap her wine for some Toblerone given to somebody who has a nut allergy. She could also donate it to the Christmas raffle.

don't worry. Chances are the teacher will love wine and if not, she coud give it to another teacher. It's a pretty safe bet.

Blondilocks · 25/06/2008 19:56

My DD's teachers are happy with wine.

If they don't want to drink it wine can always be taken to a dinner party / passed on.

My daughter (3.7) and I went shopping this afternoon to buy presents for her two class teachers and two TAs. She chose them all by herself - shower gels for everyone, plus body lotion for the two teachers.

VanillaPumpkin · 25/06/2008 19:59

I have bought wine too. Sparkling . And like you more expensive stuff on special offer .

cosima · 25/06/2008 20:00

ridiculous

ladymariner · 25/06/2008 20:01

We love wine, it's always appreciated

And how come you're all escaping now, we don't break up till 23rd July (and counting!!!)

pointydog · 25/06/2008 20:04

Wine definately the best present for teachers. At the end of term the people in the school often give each other presents to say thanks for hard work and wine seems to be around in large quantities so can't see any problems with it being in the school. I used to get enough chocs to feed me and every guest I had for about a year, so anything different was very welcome - except those teacher things - ick.

well i took it in and it went down very well (as it has done before)

think the other mum must have just been odd, have not really talked to her before today but maybe that was a good thing

No way, I am a teacher, WINE IS ALWAYS GOOD

Don't worry about what other people say. Your own opinion is what counts.

Maybe the other school mum you were talking to is a fundamentalist or something?!
