Do you like a lot of stuff in your house?

I don't like clutter, it makes me tetchy and feel stressed. We do have book cases and ornaments but they are more thoughtful than just any old item. I do not have stuff on window ledges because then it needs moved to open/close blinds and I can't stand the faff. We have put at hand the stuff we need and what's used regularly, in the kitchen the kettle and toaster are out all the time as are the fruit bowls and chopping boards along with the bread bin, sounds a lot but it's quite a big space so looks spacious. What do you have out!

We do have some cushions on the sofa, a throw blanket and plants dotted about the house but the bedrooms for example have lamps and a basket out with a few photos in frames. All toiletries are in baskets/drawers or cupboards. Am I unusual?

Huh? The tables are (a) being used and (b) have plenty of space for a cup of coffee. They are not piled high with clutter, but have a few intentionally placed items which make the room warm and inviting.

I don’t see that. All I see are four tables which are completely covered with stuff! So if you wanted to put anything else down you’d have to find somewhere else to move things to. I find that room claustrophobic personally. I guess we all have different definitions of clutter.

I admit, the tables by the stove are pretty full. I hadn’t really registered those.

Have 5 DC so naturally quite a lot of stuff dotted around. I’m an academic and read a lot so piles of books in various rooms.

I like a kitchen with plenty of storage but I don't understand the obsession with totally clear work surfaces in kitchens which already have an abundance of prep space (different if it's really limited but then probably so is the storage space? ).

The only thing I understand less than that is that recent trend for unfitted kitchens, open shelving and, worst of all, under sink curtains. Why why why?

I have lots of things but I also like tidiness so ornaments are arranged as I like them, books are kept in shelves and other things in cupboards and drawers. There will usually be something like a newspaper on the pouffe and the current book, reading glasses, pens, coasters - often with cups of tea on them -
and the remote control on the table next to my armchair.

I am a fairly ruthless minimalist and like mid century / brutalist design.
Pictures on walls and lamps but thats about it - i do not like ormaments or nicknacks.
Quite spartan really but i like it.

I hate ‘stuff’. My husband, however, seems to keep everything he has ever owned.

I think I'm quite good at hiding my clutter though. The on!y thing on my coffee table is a large wooden box (actually the case from a child's 1950s chemistry set!). That is where all my little bits of living room clutter reside.

My kitchen annoys me though, more clutter on the counters then I'd like.
That's my fault though....when I had my kitchen done decades ago I was in my twenties and convinced I'd never actually 'cook' anything!🙄
Obviously I now feel like an idiot with no decent storage in my kitchen!😆
