Because they all missed it. There was no VAR and because a big nation benefited and a small one suffered, FIFA had no interest in dealing with it retrospectively. Although I'm sure they would have if the roles had been reversed.

What annoyed and annoys me about it is the way the focus of blame was on the officials for missing it instead of Henry for doing it. People would justify it by saying he wasn't cheating the other team (nation) but the referee and it was their job to see it.

Depressingly many footballers would do exactly the same, even with VAR highly likely to catch them. Cheating is so ingrained in the game.

I’m guessing you’re relatively young? You’re referring to Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese player and he’s the one this thread is about, yes. The other Ronaldo being discussed is the Brazilian player, who is the OG Ronaldo and usually just known by that one name (like a lot of Brazilian players). He was often thought of as the best player in the world in his day (1990s to early 2000s), before injury did for him.

Oh and he’s not a slime ball with a history of sexual assault allegations. Which is a plus.

He does naturally have beady eyes. It’s quite sad for two of his sons who have inherited both these and their mum’s upturned nose… They’re a bit odd looking as a result. Sorry, derailing.
