I mean, she doesn't do much else.

My Ddog can find keys, thats her redeeming skill for the lack of tea making skills. She can find objects and people, although she thinks the dog trainer is an idiot as she has to find him every week.
I work every day to keep my 2 freeloaders in the style they seem to think they are entitled to. Dcat thinks we are just a hotel, comes and goes and expects door service.

Theredjellybean · 21/06/2026 07:45

My ddog1 is CEO of red jellybean family Ltd and as such has very important things to do in his (my) study/office every day...for which he needs to lie on the sofa and think important thoughts with his eyes closed.
Ddog2 is head of security and takes this VERY seriously. Those seagulls should be designated a terrorist organization.
Ddog3...not sure she understands the assignment...bless her she was definitely dropped on her head as a puppy..

ClockBabyD · 21/06/2026 07:47

Gorgeous dog, what breed is she @HelenaWaiting ?

That picture looks like the cat is questioning why the dog doesn’t do more 😂

I think the cat is questioning why the dog actually exists and is on the queens sofa 🤔

TropicalFishAreTwats · 21/06/2026 07:54

I have two English Springer Spaniels, one of which is extremely clever, the other just has a darkened void where a brain should be.
Having discussed the lack of cups of tea offered (with the clever one obviously) I have been told that warming the bed at night by starfishing until I have no room to sleep is a seriously tough job and I should be more grateful for their efforts!
They (we!) also have a ginger cat overlord, he is disgusted that people are describing them online as furry freeloaders and has decreed he will have his revenge (and will be joining a Union as soon as possible!)

Mum is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Dad is a Cavapoo. So she's 75% Cavalier, 25% Miniature Poodle. Her soul is 100% Spaniel though.

Honestly, the absolute audacity of your pets!

My two definitely pull their weight.

No1 is our Chief Security Officer: Highly active, but terrible at threat assessment.

No2 is our Sous Chef (Floor Division): Exceptional response time for dropped cheese, always begging to help clean up the plates after we're done eating.

Couldn't be prouder of them.

Forgot the dog tax: here is idiot number two, a complete and utter structural failure of the canine anatomy

I quite agree. We have 4 cats and not one of them will even push the hoover around. It’s THEIR fur I’m trying to get up, for heaven’s sake!

Dom't be tempted to buy a robot vacuum (we have a Eufy, it wafts about , gets stuck , declares Cleaning Finished , though in my head it says "I'm done with this lark" in a Lee Evans voice, leaves socks fluff on the floor and slopes back to the charger ) . Of course you're finished you lazy git , I went over this yesterday with the Proper Vacuum Hmm

It was aimlessly wandering round upstairs . I went up "What's that smell ?"
One of our cats ( probably the Female) had vomited up under our bed and the Eufy had sailed through it , scattering the mess .
Luckily biscuits and just chewed food , took some cleaning up ( and clean the Eufy) but I was glad it wasn't out of The Other End Envy

I should add that if you give Maisie any treat that is bigger than the tip of your little finger, she just puts it on the floor and guards it until someone comes along who will break it up for her. It's like she doesn't know she has teeth.

Well, from the expression on her face in this photo OP, she clearly works VERY hard indeed at judging you. And nobody appreciates her efforts. Rude.

grumpygrape · 21/06/2026 16:29

Our two cats can turn the TV on, well they can unless we hide the remote.

A previous cat could turn the kitchen hot tap on. Didn't do the washing up but did steal all the hot water for the morning showers 🙄

BiteSizedLife · 20/06/2026 15:24

i recall some reaearch somewhere that said cats COULD be trained just like dogs i.e. they are just as clever, can understand etc... they just dont give a shit 😂

I had two much loved Gingers. One you could watch as he worked things out and then executed his plan, usually to great success. So I believe that could be true. I never once saw him work out anything that didn’t end in an advantage for himself.

His very handsome brother was a prince amongst cats but very, very dim. I do believe he may have been in possession of the IOU from God mentioned earlier. Still miss them both dearly.

It's like she doesn't know she has teeth

Oh , don't worry , the cat will enlighten her

"Wait till she bends to pick up the food bowls then just kiss her with teeth "
Like cats do Wink

My dog can't even fetch a ball. He looks at it like 'what the fuck am I supposed to do with THAT?! 🙄'. I'm fairy sure he's faulty but never got round to getting him looked at and now the warranty has run out

grumpygrape · 21/06/2026 17:36

We used to have a village shop and a customer asked us if anyone had told us about missing a pack of two pork chops they'd bought from us (they recognised the supplier's name on the pack) we hadn't heard from anyone. She said her cat had brought in a part defrosted pack. The next day the same customer came in and asked if anyone had mentioned missing a pack of liver, nope. Next day much to her and our amusement she said her cat was going for the full mixed grill and if anyone asked about a pack of sausages ..... Sadly, being pork, the daft cat wasn't allowed to eat their swag. 🐈‍⬛

Ours is the same. For a long while we thought she was dimmer than dim. It turns out she’s just dim and chooses to ignore any request that she’s not interested in.

My Guinea pigs make fabulous lawnmowers, just saying.

Every time I throw away manky lettuce or carrot tops or any vegetable peelings I think about my guinea pigs and how I'd just chuck it all into their cages/runs.

BiteSizedLife · 21/06/2026 18:01

Also an owner of a dog who refuses a good game of fetch

I can't work out if she is too clever to play it or to dim to understand it 😂

Boudy · 21/06/2026 18:04

This one could definitely work as a continuity dog in films. If anything is out of place she very helpfully barks her head off until we rectify the issue!
