Wrong address on school register

Tryingiton · 18/06/2026 19:27

I work in a school. If a parent has not changed their address on the school register because they moved in with their boyfriend ( had another baby with him ) almost two years ago would you ask for their current address? I suspect it’s because they have not declared they are living together. We have had lots of dads over the years who lived with their mothers ?? Except they didn’t. I live locally so it’s not a well kept secret.
Do you know anyone who has done the same thing ? Would you report them to UC?

Well you do where I live. You have to request to remain.

Well it's not everywhere. And what happens if where you move to has no availability in school places??

Hotupnorth · 20/06/2026 15:45

You suspect.... ffs, mind your own business and go and find something useful to occupy yourself.

I don't know how lax the finances are down south, but our schools get specific budgets. The stamp budget is a crucial one. If it isn't spent, they lose it.

That seems really crazy TBH.

You should have checked that out before you moved.

It's normal LG finance.

Why ? Should we as a nation continue to pay increased UC to someone who is obviously playing the system?

Definitely keep it to yourself because otherwise you risk your job. Using information gained via your job (their addresses) and using it for other purposes not related to your job is a breech of law. You'll be breaking multiple policies and laws. And two wrongs don't make a right.

School have a duty to ask for updated details yearly. They usually send out a form every September.

You only have access to these records for use in the course of your work. So if you contact them about the address change and they say it's still the other address, you have to just accept it.

To lift this data and as a private individual, use it to try and accuse them of fraud is breach of GDPR. And your employment contract.

And even an incorrect address doesn't mean they are claiming benefits

You should report benefit fraud. I never understand this ‘keep your nose out’ mentality. If the woman isn’t doing anything wrong, she’ll have no problem. But those of us working and paying tax need to know we are not paying for absolute piss takers.

Exactly. It's none of her business what benefits anyone is on. Or who they are in a sexual/cohabiting relationship with.

It feels like she's got a personal Vendetta against them. And using her professional position to facilitate it. That's simply not on.

Can I ask you something? If you decided to report someone for what you perceive as "benefit fraud", would it make your life any better?

I get this. What I don’t get is the OP’s seeming bristling salivating desire to bring this woman down. If it was “hmm, seems weird. I’ll quickly pop off this message to The Government. Ok, done. Right, off to Sainsbos”, then cool. But the OP seems so pre-meditated and just out to get this woman. It’s too invested.

How do you know she's claiming benefits?
