Harsh to say DP’s gym outfit is icky?

DP is in decent shape, but I told him I found his outfit for the gym funny when he went on lunch.

Trainers/socks/shorts - normally obviously. But he then wore a Nike vest with it 🙃

I said I find vests icky and prefer t shirts.

YANBU - agree men wearing vests to gym is a bit icky
YABU - I don’t see any issue with it

Actually this is quite annoying. Conventionally, men have such boring limited clothing that it's very tedious to declare yet another item off limits.

Plus he's just going to the gym, where it's perfectly in keeping. It's practical, it's appropriate for what he's doing.

She's not even going with him so why it's any of her concern is beyond me. He's not dressing for her, or to socialise, he's going to the gym.

He's doing something for his health & fitness, and she decides oh hey, ideal time to cut him down on his appearance? 🙄

16 year old DS is a runner, he competes most weekends and a vest is standard attire (for both men and women) on the track. I can’t see the problem.

I spent too long caring what others would think of what I am wearing at the gym. Now I have realised it’s not a fashion show it’s about what is comfy for the workout I am doing that day in the weather of that day.
