I have chat got on my phone but only ever use it for random questions I can’t be bothered to google. Tonight it told me how to cook the loose boil in the bag fish I found in the bottom of the freezer sans box and despite me not buying boil in the bag fish since about 2002! (It wasn’t that old, I suspect it came in one of my mother in law’s “I thought you might use this up” bags)

never use it for anything creative or pictures since husband is in quite a creative role where ai imagery may not be taking work from him but it’s making the whole industry look bad and lazy and people are visibly turning away from things that look ai.

Never knowingly used AI like that, never will. Am 100% with you OP. It's an existential threat and an environmental one.The building of Data centres is causing havoc in the US. And things like ChatGPT are a dangerous social and psychological experiment. I'm past caring if people think I'm paranoid.

You‘re not you just have a very high p(Doom) number — as do some people in Silicon Valley who understand this stuff!

The word (or acronym) you’re looking for is an LLM. You want to stop people using publicly available LLMs. There are lots of areas where AI is already embedded, it’s not a case of ‘stop using it’.
